As a Fijian myself, not sure why they have a Fijian controlling this game? Couple of forward passes from the Fijians goes unnoticed which resulted in tries on both occasions. Apart from that, not a bad performances from the boys and well done. Commiseration to our Samoa brothers!

From a Fijian fan, Fiji won but no where in the world in any sports final you will have a match official from the same country officiating. It sort of ruined the rugby 7's final. There were some calls that was questionable which sort of gave the Fiji team an advantage. I hope the next games organisers will seriously look at the issue.

We can say that about an oversees ref, not an island ref and especially not this fijian ref even though his country men is part of the team he's officiating. Second try to fiji was just a bad call by him, not a biased one. Fact is there was no other qualified person to ref that final apart from him. We as pacific islanders must know that we are not as discriminating and as biased as overseas refs are towards us during rugby matches. Fijian or Samoan as a referee the outcome wouldn't have been any different. Good luck to both teams in their pursuit for break into their IRB teams.
