Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge about lawn renovation. I’m doing something similar and it feels overwhelming. My first question is, what kind of spray did you put on the old grass prior to mowing it down short? Also, can I simply omit the spray part and just go right over the top of the old lawn, after a heavy power thatching and scalping with my mower? My second question is, what type of rake was the first one you used - with the tines - to push and pull the topsoil around. I have the other one, like the Landzie that you used following. My third question is, is there a rule of thumb for the amount of topsoil - per 1000 square feet - to put over an existing lawn when performing a total renovation? For example, My entire lawn space is 22,000 square feet, and yesterday I ordered a full quad axle load of blended topsoil, which totaled 25 cubic yards. Will this be enough to put a thin overcoat of topsoil over 22,000 square feet of lawn, that is ready to accept seed? Thank you in advance for advance for your help. Matt

@@matthewvanselow1979 Not a problem - mixture of glyphosate and ornamec (a grass killer). If you don’t have any issues that need a spray out, yup, easily can keep old grass - Landscaping rake amzn.to/4g22cSR - For every .25” raised you need .77 cubic yards. You will want less then 1/2” of your keeping existing grass to be able to get the grass blades to stand up through it

Holy crap..you moved 36 yards of soil all by yourself by hand? Ironman. How much was the curbing per foot?

First 28 was dumped in place that you see, and the last 8 was hand shoveled into place with that gorilla cart. It was $4.50 a linear foot. Not horrible, I paid this for them from tho for stamped and colored in 2018… 🫣🫣🫣

I did it over 4 weeks, as I had to kill off Bermuda grass that takes time to get ahold of. Had I not have to deal with this I feel I could of done it in 2-3 days easily.
