Steve Wright in the Afternoon in the 80s was my daily escape from the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. Whenever I heard his voice in the past 40 years, it would stop me in my tracks because it was always interesting and funny to listen to. His shows unfailingly left a smile on my face (and a new factoid in my brain). Good bless, Wrightey, and thank you for all the laughter. ❤

It was all a bit silly but definitely made the working afternoon pass quicker !! My 1st job after training for 18 months as a Radar engineer in the RAF , was at RAF Locking in 1981. In 1T hangar where Radio 1 would be playing, Steve Wright came on who I'd not heard before. I was instantly hooked. He would go right up close to the microphone and say "C'mon touch your radio and feel the warmth of my sincerity " 💜 I could not believe it when they axed his show in 2022 I cannot listen to Mills instead I listen to my own music collection on Spotify now.
