I see a lot of SNK influence on this one. Specifically some KoF visual aspects and character models. The instruction screen definitely has some Neo Geo elements. There's one male blond enemy that looks like Andy Bogard in a jacket on the subway. That's also cool they introduced a block button for a beat 'em up. I was just playing the new TMNT and questioned why the turtles being ninjas aren't capable of blocking, so it looks like someone else was thinking the same thing.

I wasn't the biggest NeoGeo fan growing up, purely because I didn't really ever have access to the games. I noticed the tutorial was very NeoGeo-esk but now you mention it the whole game does have that aesthetic huh! I totally see the Andy Bogard likeness too! Also it appears it was heavily influenced by another Konami beat em up "Vendetta" which is wasn't aware of before the review but makes sense with the name too huh!

@@KutskiGaming In my area growing up, there were only a few games I'd see around. Metal Slug and Puzzle Bobble were the most common, one bowling alley had Strikers 1945 at the bar. I got into the Neo fighters around 2000 when I played Last Blade for the first time and loved it. I never played the Konami Vendetta, but Konami arcade games were always great so I'll have to give it a try. It also appears to be out on the Switch.

Animation is SMOOOOTH. Love the pixel-art. Soundtrack is ace. This >> Streets of Rage 4. "Higher" gave me a pseudo-CLSM vibe.
