Good 😊 thing ya caught the problem now. A rubbing dial string WILL eventually break, and may cause ya worse of a headache 🤕 than to take care of it now. Your friend, Jeff.

When I was a kid, my dad and my brother were ham radio operators. There was many a time we stayed up all night listening to stations from all over the world !! That was soo much fun !!!!

I love Zenith radios too and appreciate the mention. Another well done repair in a methodical and meticulous manner. Best, Don

Nice logical set of repairs The new and clear dial face and the replacement back are fabulous. You remind me of my early teenage years listening at night to the AM band and getting East coast AM radio stations in Chicago from places like Boston (WBZ 1030 AM) and also heard Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and also Chattanooga ,TN. Not with a tube radio but listening on a 1973 Plymouth Satellite AM radio. And started the DX radio listening bug in me.

Hi Steve. Thanks, they do look nice. We used to use my Dad's S-38B back in the 60s and tried to listen in to SW, but we never had a good enough antenna set up. I was impressed at the reception with just that box wavemagnet in my shop. Hottest radio I think I have. Looking forward to cooler weather and putting up a wire in the backyard and listening in while doing one of my all-night smoker cooks. Thanks for the note.

You have a nice little set there that should last many years. Thank you for showing the alignment process.

Thanks. You are welcome on the alignment, let me know if there is a question about it you have. FM alignments are a bit more complicated and I am overdue to do another so I will be sure to show it as well when I get to it. Thanks again.

On that dial string, you have the patience of a saint. Thanks for the shout out. Great job on the alignment. On removing those pointers with a shaft band , I usually spread the band with a screwdriver to alleviate the pressure from the band and they will generally give loose. Great looks for this model. That dial cover really makes it POP!😊. Picking up stations more than 200 miles away makes it truly a “Long Distance” radio.

Thanks for the tip. Will need to try that. When I got Nashville I thought, "now that's a long way..." Thanks again.

So sorry I got your KZbin handle number wrong in the video! I put in an Errata in the description to correct it. I jumbled the numbers - typical for me.

I know the dial string was a major headache, but now it's right. That's a very cool little radio you have and it's a keeper for sure.

With all the work you've done this old radio, it looks like it would be in some ones house during the 1940's and 1950's.

Hey man, great video! Addicted viewer of Shango, Buzz, Tipton, Radio Shop and now you. Lately the post-war 7H series Zeniths have been my favorite patients and I have several. Can’t thank you enough for touching on the wave-trap trimmer. Nice job on this one sir! Mike

Hi Mike, yes I recognize your handle from comments on those same favorite channels of mine. Thanks for your comment and I have some Zeniths akin to the ones you mention for future videos so hope you can drop by for those as well. Thanks again!

Hey PF, nice job on the string, too bad your shortcut didn't work out. Wave trap, yeah that RCA 66X1 was the first radio I've worked on which had one of those. I like coupling the signal in with a loop as you've shown. Seems to me this is more in line with how the radio is meant to work. Turned out very nice, good job. :)

Thanks Doug. Yeah I showed everyone my mistake as usual, but I am glad I did the stringing correction. I am sure it was wrong. Next time I would just untie the string and redo it as I ended up doing it. It was only difficult because I didn't remove the pointer as I was concerned it would break. That wave trap worked pretty good as designed eh? Thanks again.
