Easily, one of the greatest 15 minutes in the history of the movies. Thank you, Steven Spielberg and John Williams, for blessing us with this.

The last 15 mins of music to ET is ASTOUNDING!! It is so epic, beautiful and intensely emotionally moving. SImply a masterpiece. When it quiets down and moves into the goodbye finale? I am a bathtub.

I never married, I guess by choice. But the closest I ever came to being a father was when I would take my two nephews to the movies. They are grown men now with lives of their own but I will always cherish the times I had with them, especially the time we all three cried at the end of E.T. I will always love you Anthony and Adam.

I'll never not tear up hearing the crowd's reaction to them taking flight. I saw this film in the cinema last year, and it's the only film I've ever been to that got an applause at the end. 40 years ago!!!!
@80MWH7 жыл бұрын
Spielberg allowed something that most films rarely did: he made us, the ordinary people, the chance to believe we could have these extraordinary things happen. You didn't need to venture to far away places, go to that haunted house in Scotland...his films showed that in the 'safety' of suburbia, anything was possible. Aliens could be hiding in your neighborhood, that house down the street could be haunted by poltergeists, your local mad scientist could be testing out his new time machine at the local mall's parking lot, pirate treasure could be buried in your home town, and much more!

this was absolutely astounding to watch loved the crowds reaction to when they took flight just an awesome reaction to a classic

The genius of the end of ET and John Williams is that basically from the moment he bike chase starts, it’s essentially all driving through the music score
@tjp14513 жыл бұрын
If I’m not mistaken, Spielberg even re-edited the entire sequence to line up with the music because it’s just so damn perfect.

as wonderful a movie as E.T. is, this music is greater than any movie deserves! was so fortunate to also be in the audience this same night, on my birthday.
@Karthos10005 жыл бұрын
My parents remember being in the audience for one of the preview showings in Los Angeles. They remember that people (including them) were standing and jumping up and down even as the final scene was showing, and that as soon as the ship created the rainbow, the entire audience turned as one to the back of the theater where everyone involved in the production was watching and gave them a standing ovation.

What still hurts is those final five or six minutes, especially when E.T. lights the tip of his finger close to Elliot's face and says "I'll be right here.", before Elliot replies with "Goodbye."

Love this. Gotta say 1 thing though, I find it really disrespectful when people talk while John Williams is talking and the movie and orchestra are playing. I can see the crowd cheering and reacting as they should, but talking to someone? Come on people it can wait till its over. On a side note I remember when my sister took me to see this on my birthday when I was a like 13 I think. I cried when ET and Elliot were dieng and I litterley stood up and yelled HE'S ALIVE!!! When ET came to life! ET will always have a special place in my heart!

Thanks so much for posting this. Thisis my all time favourite movie & particulary the music. I still have the original DVD at home. I was only 16 when it came out at the movies & saw it 8 times. Hearing & seeing the last 15 minutes is worth the price of the ticket alone. Great video picture quality & sound. What type of camera are you using?

08:36 YES! The proper version with the shotguns in! Not the “special edition” where they recut it and replaced the shotguns with Walkin talkies in the wide shot as they take off! Such a dumb move, but I’m guessing Steven was just following in his best mate George’s’ path!
