Weißbier is my ‘desert island beer.’ Endlessly drinkable, perfect for summer and winter. Can’t go wrong with a good one.
@TheCraftBeerChannel3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! A beer for all occasions - something the Germans do so well because beer is so embedded in their culture, particularly in the south

Merry christmas guys! It's nice too see you be honest about your brews. Made two Christmas beers this year, one I like, but the other was a disappointment. It's bloody hard to stay motivated and keep going, but you know that's what crafts beer is all about, trial and error.

Another great video gents. It may have been the new father tiredness or his disappointment of the beer but the look on Johnny's face was like a gut punch! Also shocked that Brad didn't describe the beers as a cracker and a turkey (maybe that would have been harsh). Merry Christmas everyone! X

Lovely video, now I want a wheat beer! One of the reasons why it is difficult to nail the taste is because many wheat beers will ferment in the bottle (hence the yeast sediment) or will get yeast from the fermentation vessel added to the bottle. This enhances strongly the yeast character and is also the reason for the high carbonation. It is important to dissolve the yeast on the bottom of the bottle before pouring the beer and to pour it into the glas with the beer or alternatively pour all the beer bar a little bit and then use the rest to dissolve the settled yeast and then pour it in the glas.

Hefeweizen is one of my favourite beer styles since forever! Amazing in the summer when it is very warm outside! Obviously the Germans know how to do it best, but not taking Germany into consideration.... one of my all time favourites is Vauhti Veikko by Teerenpeli Brewery from Lahti, Finland. Try it if you ever have a chance.... somehow. On the subject of this brewery, they do an amazing blueberry cider Lempi Mustikka. It is sweet and crisp and the blueberry flavour tastes very natural unlike all the other "flavoured" ciders that have become trendy in the UK.... especially from those two big Swedish brands.... those are really alco-pops and not ciders.

So what is the difference between a German Weiss/Hefe, and a Belgian Wit. Is it basically just the yeast? More clove on the Wit, more banana on the Weiss? Probably should know the answer to this already, but busy time here at the shop and my brain is fried. Merry Christmas to Brad, Jonny and your families!

Congrats on the news baby! I recently brewed up a hefe with the same yeast. Ferulic acid rest and coolish fermented. 60/40 wheat and pils…and it is boring - I know the feeling of weeks of waiting and then meh.. just missing something. Will add some munich/melanoidin in the next version. The Amarillo hefe colour looks amazing- do you have the recipes in a shareable format (like Brewfather etc..) Cheers and happy Christmas, Ben

7:36 you wrote dunkelweisse, not quite right, it should be weizen, as weisse designates white/bright
@Seb_Brannigan3 жыл бұрын
By the way, if you can get a hand on it (e.g. while in Germany): try to get a Schneider Weisse Tap7 or a Gutmann Hefeweizen (those are basically banana juice) or Schneider Weisse Tap5 (thats a Wheat-Doppelbock with a lot of Hops. Style ist Hopfenweisse) It won't get better than that.Oh, and you can strip the yeast to brew your own banana Hefeweizen.
