They were asked to reunite for the boat people and John was the lone holdout. I feel like they would have done something together by the mid 80’s. John and Paul were on good terms. They wrote the first song you can recall hearing on the radio - Don't Let Me Down. They were the first band whose records you bought with your busboy pay. They were the band you never jilted for another. You stayed up nights with your transistor radio waiting for Imagine to play again and again and again. You clipped newspaper and magazine articles, bought the biographies, and knew their history inside out. You hoped and hoped and hoped they'd take the 50 million dollars to regroup for one more concert. John died on your birthday, just a week before your girlfriend died while you were stationed in Spain, and George died just a week before you deployed to SW Asia after 9/11. You know them so well it's almost a shock to know they don't know you. You don't want to share them with anyone, but you know they belong to everyone. They brought joy to the entire world with about 10 hours of music. Rest in Peace, John. Rest in Peace, George. Rock on Paul and Ringo. ❤

This gathering actually cut right through my cynicism for this type of "all star" spectacles and went straight to the emotional joy reflex nerve. The tune stands apart as the most organically happy moment on a complex, maybe even controversial, work. Ringo. Beautiful!😀💕👍

It should be a tradition. For all these great artists to come on stage and sing with the Beatles. Infact we need a National Holiday. Beatles Appreciation Day.

Sometimes when you get that many brilliant artists on stage, it sounds like a cacophony, but everyone played their part, no egos, and it sounded great. Pretty damn great line up there.
@rp73263 жыл бұрын
Egos? None of them are big enough to have egos in the presence of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, not to mention Stevie Wonder and Joe Walsh.

This was wonderful to see. I'm now 67. The first that I saw them, was on on the Ed Sullivan Show, I was ten. That sung, I wanna hold your hand . I think the world fell in love with them . John was my favorite. I liked them all. Some of my favorite songs are, tell me why do no reply, Eight Days a week, Help, Just to dance with you, And I love her. Don't let me Fall. Just to name a few. Seeing this video, makes me smile😊

I’ve never ever seen this. I like the idea behind this presentation. Using the power and stamina of this age old classic and doing it in a way so that the lyrics “get by with alittle help from my friends” is literally presented by the music of the next generation (as per all the artists singing along on stage) was just so sweet.
