In defense of why this ending seems to lackluster, Sonic Team admitted they were put under a harsh time restraint by Sega, and hadn't finished designing the final island or boss in time for release. They also only had a team of 60 people, and a fairly small budget compared to other Triple-A games, so they did all they could with the other 3 big islands. That's why Supreme is just a reskin of Giganto, too. One of the higher-ups of Sonic Team risked his job to get the extra year after release for making the additional updates so they could make the final island and final boss as good as possible under a time crunch. Update 3 is still pretty rough, but I enjoy it better than the base ending.

06 was due to them not knowing how to use the Havok engine and making a bad story, the wii games were made by a smaller B-Team... as for the more recent games, I mean... Forces was just badly made all around, due to a mix of Sega Mandates and horrible design choices. Boom was another new engine that they failed to properly utilize. Frontiers was at least successful in what it wanted to do, and is the most liked 3D Sonic game in almost a decade.

So, fun fact for those of you that won't play this and won't watch it outside of this channel. The dlc that just came out makes this out to be the "bad" ending. If you do the dlc you get a good ending that has a much better final boss fight that is actually kinda hard.

The reveal at the very end of The City Escape Bit that Adam was trying to sleep the whole time, and that's why Cory yelled "Shut up, You're ruining it!" In the middle of singing makes it that much better.

I still can't believe Sega was going to make sonic team release frontiers a year earlier. Even with how janky it is, I still like the game but I can't imagine how much of a disaster it could've been. With that said at the very least Sega is going to give sonic team actual funding instead of expecting them to make a triple A sonic game with a shoestring budget. And the director for the game seems to be passionate so I'm hopeful for the future of sonic.

To answer Lyle's question about full pictures of the globe, they exist. They were taken on film during the Apollo missions. The whole "they have to photoshop images together" thing comes from one quote, from one guy, who made a high resolution composite of the globe from nearby satellite scans. NASA never admits that they can't take pictures of the whole globe.
