People keep complaining about Butcher being at fault, by not letting Soldier Boy kill homelander. What’s wrong with you?? He attacked the kid, so what do you want him to do, let Ryan die? Abuse has been a recurring theme this season. Butcher left Lenny to the lions, and blames himself for it. For once he chose not to be selfish, and take the hard choice, protect Ryan. He still lost him, but like he said in a previous episode “no good deed”. I’m hoping that Ryan can redeemed/ recovered though.

Moreover, there are ways to kill Homelander without killing Ryan too. Butcher could have grabbed Ryan and run. Did he do that? No. He spent the rest of the time fighting Soldier Boy.
