The Mogurimod's depth cannot be overstated, the game looks miles better, not slightly better, it's astonishing honestly and it's the kind of work expected from SE or another triple A company. High emphasis on turn based, tired of all the action based hack and slash b.s
@thenerdnetwork3 жыл бұрын
@@ty-hr7jg Lets be honest here, the old turn based games were largely that way because of limitations of the game engines and software at the time. Nowadays the mechanics and environments in game engines are extremely complex, and game development teams are very large. I just don't see major game developers taking huge steps backward to dumb down systems to satisfy a (relatively speaking) small number of people. The only way you are going to see an "old school" turn based game is if an indie developer makes one.
@ty-hr7jg3 жыл бұрын
@@thenerdnetwork I don't know if I fully agree with the idea that turn based games were based solely on the fact that older game systems were limited in regards to software and game engines. I also definitely do not agree with the notion that turn based games are "dumbed down" vs hack and slash monotonous action based games. You can only strategize so much when you have multiple characters running at the same time and it seems that you just need to hack and slash your way through enemies over and over. A good compromise I have found is the FFX-2 system. It was a blend of turn based and action-time based mechanics. Another game that makes a good compromise battle system is that of eternal sonata where it is turn based however each turn is based on inherent speed values of the character/enemy (I.e faster means more turns) and then each individual turn is time based so you can move each character however you want but you only have a certain amount of seconds to do that (seconds decrease as you progress). That all aside, for me personally, an RPG is supposed to be turn based. A good classic RPG is turn based. I am definitely NOT saying that it must be turn based in order to be a good or fun RPG. I think there has been a massive shift in RPG's towards the action based mechanics and I believe it would be so refreshing to see a turn based system return. I have not played any RPG since the dumpster fire that was FF12.

Final Fantasy IX holds a significant and dear place in my heart, for more reasons than i could ever put into words. I was happy to have the remake one pc of recent time, but seeing the Memoria Project... It brings tears of joy to me. So much love and admiration... Even if i can't play something in that form of beauty, just to gaze and witness is enough, It's stunning and heartwarming

The geforce now leaks haven't been wrong yet even a lot down to the exact dates. There is a FFT remaster, Tactics ogre Remaster, and FFIX Remake (might not be remake as most people consider remakes, FFVII REMAKE vs FFIX Remake has a couple less capitals.) on the way.

My favourite game of all time. Such a beautiful world, very different characters, soul touching music and an increasingly engaging story. I was already aware of the project, but not of how many established professionals were working on it. It's awesome to know that this game touched so many hearts, as it did mine. Great job guys, keep it up!

I've been watching this, eagerly waiting for their next updates, hoping Square just allows them to work it to their fullest and complete the recreation. It's an amazing game and has inspired me to do so much from only 9 years old (the reason I played it before I played 7). It is still my all time favorite game.

It is possible that by the time this may be done it will end up with a cease and desist. No doubt SE is going to do something with their older titles once FF7 remake is done. Look at how companies have been killing off mods lately for other games.

Hands down would be an on-release buy for me. FF9 was the first game I bought when the PS2 came out. Because we were a Nintendo family, I never played FF7 or FF8 as a natural release (later I was able to play FF7 on the PC). So I was incredibly excited to pick up both FF9 AND FFX on release of the PS2. While I loved FFX, FF9's "blast back to the past" took me in from minute one, and still remains my 2nd favorite after FF6.

As impressive as this is, the Memoria team (at its current size) and as talented as they are will take them YEARS to finish this unless they drastically increase their numbers.
@thorinhannahs46143 жыл бұрын
At that point they just need to prioritize what they recreate. Alexander and Bahamut is a great scene and Black Mage Village is a great locale. Those things can draw in more talent if done correctly but passion should come first amd foremost.

I remember watching my father play IX as a young child and being completely enraptured by the game, eventually trying to play it myself and never really getting past disc 2, but loving it nonetheless and still holding it as one of my favorite games of all time. Now, playing through as an adult(owning it 4, soon to be 5 times over) and catching all the little details and implications I'd missed, and just enjoying the game, has brought me a peace very few things have lately. This game is part of what inspired me to learn Japanese with hopes of one day working on a Zelda or Final Fantasy game and helping bring someone else that same sense of inspiration and purpose. Seeing this passion project bringing so many people together to create something so beautiful, hearing about the animated series, seeing the hints of IX in FFXIV, knowing that I share that experience and love for this game and so much evidence that others do as well... it's been a really well-needed comfort. I really, really hope Square works with these creators to help Memoria become an official release, or even makes their own remake to the same standard
@psychopolar88403 жыл бұрын
Ok so i have a genuine question, I know FF9 memoria project is fan-made project but are they still developing it or was it just a concept and if they are developing it didn't they face any copyright claims cause I really support all these fan-made projects as these fans are full of passion and I want them to succeed in whatever stuff they are doing so I wanted to know what's up with this project.
@etherraichu3 жыл бұрын
Well this isn't going to be a game that can be played, it's just going to show what the game could look like if made today. And its being shown to people for free. So Square Enix has no reason at all to do anything to stop this project. If anything, this will just encourage more people to play (and buy) FFIX. And even if the people making this wanted to make it into a full game, they couldn't on their own. It would cost millions of dollars. So no, no copyright issues at all.
@starsiss3 жыл бұрын
@@etherraichu Why would people buy the old ffix after seeing this? This is totally useless as people is seeing a game that will never come to be. So what's the point in investing resources and time? None. Very pretty,yes, bur pointless. Unless they hope square buys their work for a future remake of the game.
@kuuryotwo51533 жыл бұрын
@@starsiss It's called a passion project. Artists don't just do what they do for money, some of them do it for the pure enjoyment of doing it. All of these people have day jobs where they do things for a 'point' or 'purpose' and they do this for the sheer fun of it in their off time.

This looks fantastic, but as much as I love FF9 and would love a remake like this, FF6 should get remade next! It was first supposed to happen on the DS (like the 3 & 4 remakes), but they ran into technical issues. They were then going to look at doing a remake on the 3DS, but that never happened either. Please, for the love of Kefka, remake FF6, THEN go on to remake FF8, FF9, etc.
