Bro this series came out in 1994, it's called Shotoku Battle in Japan. When we finally got it in the US they changed the name to Tokyo Extreme Racer. It's one of my favorite series.

I discovered this series from street supremacy, the psp version of TXR, then discovered the other TXR games and tell you what, I played ALL of them. Like, I had to. The SP system, the gameplay, the damn lore and the depth to it, I absolutely DIGGED it. Seeing the reboot staying true to it's DNA, but with more spices sprinkled all over it, is absolutely ORGASMIC.

Ha! CarX leading the industry! Good one. It's the only game I've played recently with more bugs and glitches and connection issues than Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. To be fair, I do play it on occasion. I like the world and some of the cars in it, but it makes some other AAA games like Forza Horizon and The Crew look polished. If this new Tokyo Extreme Racer has an open world like CarX or Test Drive, then it'll really be fun!

So finally completed the early release version (aka stage 2). My notes: 1. Buy either the Swift or shitbox corolla as your starter car just to save up some money. It will make getting next car easier, considering that starter cars won't be very competitive in stage 1 due to limited upgrade options. As for upgrades, you can buy them from Perk option in the menu. 2. You can challenge traffic cars for some easy cash in the beginning (i.e. trucks, vans, they are slow and you get 8.5-9k CP for beating them), but overall best way of making money in the beginning is going for long drives - you get 100k, then 200k cp for just racing and driving a lot per night. 3. Sometimes opponents take wrong turn and race ends up in a draw. It's absolute bullshit, player shouldn't be penalized just because AI screws up. 4. Some stage 2 bosses like Melancholic Angel are straight up buster (450 HP car before you get final performance upgrades? yeah nah, get that BS out of here).
