FINALLY a Starfield update worth talking about!

Well, it's been months since I stopped playing and talking about Starfield but this update looks really good and we get some hints towards the Shattered Space DLC, so I just had to talk about it.

Captain the Ship Of Your Dreams
Pilot and command the ship of your dreams. Personalize the look of your ship, modify critical systems including weapons and shields, and assign crew members to provide unique bonuses. In deep space you will engage in high-stakes dogfights, encounter random missions, dock at star stations, and even board and commandeer enemy ships to add to your collection.
Discover, Collect, Build
Explore planets and discover the fauna, flora, and resources needed to craft everything from medicine and food to equipment and weapons. Build outposts and hire a crew to passively extract materials and establish cargo links to transfer resources between them. Invest these raw materials into research projects to unlock unique crafting recipes.
Lock and Load
Space can be a dangerous place. A refined combat system gives you the tools to deal with any situation. Whether you prefer long-range rifles, laser weapons, or demolitions, each weapon type can be modified to complement your playstyle. Zero G environments add a chaotic spectacle to combat, while boost packs give players freedom to maneuver like never before.

The problem is; it's still Starfield. You cannot turn a mule into a prize winning horse. They just need to cut their losses and focus on ES VI even though I am fairly sure that will be a dumpster fire.

I disagree, there are no losses to cut, Starfield had the biggest launch of any Bethesda game, and yes, there was a very vocal group of people who really didn’t like the game, but there was also a very large group of people who really loved the game, myself included. And even if it was as bad as a lot of people say, they totally could turn it around. Just look at cyberpunk.

@spellandshield Concurrent players is not a good metric for how successful a single player game is, starfield has more concurrent players in steam right now as I’m writing this comment than God of War, Spider-Man Remastered, and Spider-Man miles morales have combined. Horizon forbidden west came to steam less than 2 months ago and it has less players than Skyrim. I put 200 hours into starfield at launch, I loved the game, but haven’t really touched it since, that’s normal for a single player game. And yes you’re right starfield probably won’t be more popular than Skyrim but that’s okay, Skyrim is one of the best selling games of all time.

So it's now on the level of 2010 open world games and that's supposed to be celebtared? I mean, you say it yourself. It should have been there at launch, so why wasn't it? It's also kind of fun how bethesda can't be bothered to properly balance the game for different playstyles so they let the players fix their incompetence.

As much as I love the game, I have called out its flaws, honestly it probably should have come out this fall with all these feature added at launch. But regardless of its flaws I still adore this game, the world, the characters, the story. Theres a lot to love. And if you don’t enjoy it that’s totally okay, but for the people that do, this news is pretty exciting.

@@mothergoose275 I'm not trying to tell you not to enjoy the game. If you like it, go fot it. But don't you think it's about time Bethesda gets held up to a proper game developer standard? I mean this came out the same year as Baldur's Gate 3, Street Fighter 6, Phantom Liberty, Tears of the Kingdom... Starfield's supposed to be in the same weight class as them, yet even HiFi Rush is running laps around Bethesda in terms of Technology, Functionality, Optimization and quality of Dialogue. I don't hate bethesda and I still play Skyrim from time to time but despite it's 12 years of age and 15+ releases, it relies to this day on community patches to run even semi-stable. You can't look me in the eyes and tell me honestly that that is how a good developer behaves.

@timokampwerth1996 What is proper game developer standard though? Every game is so different. Cyberpunk in my opinion was way worse at launch than starfield. And I’m saying this as someone’s whose most anticipated game from 2021 was Cyberpunk and 2023 was Starfield, like my hype levels were about the same going into each game if that makes sense. But now Cyberpunk is one of the best rpgs out there. Baldurs gate 3 is amazing, I don’t want to put it down but it had 3 years of early access before it came out, and was still super buggy at launch, even more buggy than starfield, you couldn’t even see the ending of the game for a while😭 again an amazing game but it had issues. Tears of the Kingdom is my favorite legend of Zelda game, but its story was super similar to BOTW, I think it was an amazing game but kind of a weak sequel in terms of storytelling. At the end of the day though I just don’t think we’re gonna see eye to eye, you don’t like Starfield and that’s okay, I love it and 100% think it is in the same weight class as all these other games you mentioned (except for Street fighter 6, I haven’t played that one so I can’t say much on it)

@@mothergoose275 I don't remember saying whether i liked Starfield or not. And I gave a pretty simple example what I consider to be proper developer standard, or rather lack thereof, with Skyrim. If you prefer, we could always go to the bottomless well of failure, broken promises and in some regions even broken laws, that is Fallout 76. But I suppose you're right, we're not gonna see eye to eye if you're this unwilling to have the discussion.
