But when people live on vegetables do they know how much animal life they kill with every mouthful? Bacteria and other insects that live on vegetables are destroyed by man through the use of pesticides or by fumigation and such practices. Apart from that, the vegetable that they eat is also a living cell and the scientists have now reached a stage in their understanding that they cannot rule out some sort of a ‘nervous’ system existing in vegetable life. There is certain evidence of plant life behaving as if it possessed a ‘nervous’ system. That evidence is so powerful that nobody can ignore it. There is a plant known as ‘touch-me-not’ that shrinks as one brings a finger close to it. This is a visible sign. But apart from that, the fact is that every plant follows a course of behaviour that requires the existence of some ‘nervous’ system because when the plant grows there are two parts of it. One begins to grow away from the light and then gets embedded as a root in the soil, and the other begins to grow towards light. Why should the same type of cells have different preferences and why should they grow away from light? Moreover, when the position of the plant in relation to the sun is changed and as it changes also in the difference regions of the earth, from north to south, the branches of trees are differently patterned, and they always tend to grow more in the direction of the sun. There are other similar behaviour patterns which indicate that there is some sort of a ‘nervous’ system that we cannot trace yet it does exist in the plant kingdom. That is also a sort of life. Why destroy life at all? That is the question. We live in a world in which life lives on life. This is the plan of things and when one understands the plan of things, one can go further and begin to understand God’s philosophy that the lower order of life is permitted to be sacrificed for life of the higher order. There is an entire plan of eco-system in life. Hence, when this is true of the stage below that of man, why should man be deprived of it? When in nature all other species of animals below man are permitted by God to survive on the comparatively lower order of species, why should man be deprived of it? If a person takes pity on a hen, we need to ask has he ever observed the hen eating worms or insects? Whatever animal you eat, it lives somehow on lower orders of life and all birds do the same thing. Birds of comparatively higher order kill their own species - birds of a lower order. This is a general plan of things and nobody can change it. আমি হিন্দু ঘরে জন্ম গ্রহণ করেছি কিন্তু আজ পর্যন্ত গীতা পড়িনি (যদিও আমি ভবিষ্যতে অবশ্যই পড়বো) আমি ভগবান মানি না মূর্তি পুজো মানি না আমি ধর্ম বলতে শুধুমাত্র দয়া, করুণা, ন্যায়-অন্যায় এবং মনুষ্যত্ব বুঝি। আমার কাছে ভগবান মানে উপরুক্ত গুণাবলী সম্পন্ন মানুষেরা, যার মধ্যে স্বামী বিবেকান্দ এক অন্যতম নাম। কিন্তু কিছু অল্প বুদ্ধি সম্পন্ন মানুষ আছে যারা তার উক্তি গুলির মানে না বুঝে নিজের ইচ্ছা মত অর্থ তৈরি করে। বিবেকানন্দ কখনো গীতাকে পড়তে বারণ করেননি, তিনি বলেছেন গীতা শুধু মাত্র অক্ষরিক ভাবে পড়ার থেকে ফুটবল খেলা ভালো এতে তাদের শরীরচর্চার সাথে বুদ্ধির বিকাশ হবে যার ফলে তারা গীতা আরো ভালো ভাবে বুঝতে পারবে। একজন সন্ন্যাসীকে প্রসাদ রূপে তুমি তুলসী পাতা দিতেই পারো কিন্তু একজন ক্ষুধার্থ মানুষকে তুলসী পাতা আর বেগুনের যেকোনো একটি বেছে নিতে বললে সে বেগুনটি কেই বেছে নেবে। "যত মত তত পথ" কথাটিকে মায়াপুর কিংবা অস্ট্রেলিয়া যাওয়ার উদাহরন দিয়ে ভুল ভাবে বোঝানো হয়েছে। শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ "যত মত তত পথ" কথার মানে বোঝাতে চেয়েছেন তোমার উদ্দেশ্য যদি সঠিক হয় লক্ষ্য যদি স্থির থাকে তবে তুমি যেকোনো মতে সঠিক পথ পাবে উদ্দেশ্য পূরণের জন্য ( যেমন ১০০ সংখ্যাটি অনেক ভাবে পাওয়া যায়, কেউ বলবে ৫০+৫০=১০০ কেউ বলবে ২০০-১০০=১০০ কেউ বলবে ৫০×২=১০০ আবার কেউ বলবে ২০০÷২=১০০ এই ভাবে ৯৯+১,৯০+১০,৩০+৭০,১২+৮৮.... যত ভিন্ন ভিন্ন মত আসবে তোর ভিন্ন ভিন্ন পথ খুলবে সেই মূল উদ্দেশ্যে পৌঁছনোর জন্য) এবার বলি মায়া পুর কিংবা অস্ট্রেলিয়া যাওয়ার সঠিক উদাহরণ টা। মায়াপুর কেউ চাইলে সাইকেলে যেতে পারে কেউ বা বাইকে কেউ হেঁটে কেউ অস্ট্রেলিয়া প্লেনে যেতে পারে কেউবা ট্রেনে কেউবা আবার জাহাজে এবং সবাই এক্ষেত্রে ভিন্ন ভিন্ন পথ অনুসরণ করছে তার গন্তব্য স্থলে পৌঁছানোর জন্য। কাজেই উদ্দেশ্য সঠিক থাকলে "যত মত তত পথ" তুমি অ্যান্টার্কটিকার প্লেনে উঠে বলবে অস্ট্রেলিয়া যাবো তা তো হবে না কারণ সেই প্লেনের গন্তব্য স্থল বা উদ্দেশ্য অ্যান্টার্কটিকা। কাজেই এই সমস্ত বোকা বোকা প্রশ্ন করে বিবেকানন্দ বা শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ কে না পড়ে না বুঝে ছোটো করার চেষ্ঠা করে নিজেরই মূর্খতার পরিচয় না দিলেও চলবে।😂

I know of a distant relative who all through her life condemned others food practices and bragged about being a pure vegetarian only to end her life eating non veg as prescribed by doctor ..and then she forgot all her practices and in a bid to clutch her outgoing breath she ate meat..hypocrisy at its best..so we should never forget what we condemn today might be the only option for us tomorrow.
