Augustus was very ill. He was no coward. The times he was accused of “hiding” but the reality was that dust and other things made him sick. He actually participated in the Dalmatian campaigns and bloodied his sword. He was very clever but his wife Livy was even more so. They made on heck of a pair.

Octavian went to Gaul as soon as he was well, and had no idea that the campaign ended in success. It showed such courage and loyalty, that he personally traveled back with Julius. And that was the event that made him the heir, as it were.

@@anarrivingwingedhussar9692 As reported by Tacitus who hated Livia. Augustus died aged 75 and had Tiberius set up to inherit for years and planned his death perfectly even dying in the same room as his father. Tacitus paints Livia as an evil step mother who murdered everyone so Tiberius could inherit. Which makes no sense as after Gaius and Lucius died Augustus set up Tiberius as his heir even ordering the death of his unstable grandson Posthumous Agrippa so Tiberius would be unchallenged.

Historiography also notes that Leaders tend not to highlight themselves in bad way*. The Thirty Tyrants of Athens, for example, became tyrannical (bad). Thus the connotations of The Tyrant with the Bad. The Roman Republic 'Office of Dictator' was an emergency six months position, granted by the Senate, to fix up a crisis (proverbial gravitas). Ceaser claimed the Office for Life (Plutarch, et al).📚 Some scholars suggest that the inflexibility of the Senate had been deliberately de-stabelized for one person to: "...seize the Crown..." (Scholastic term for machinations at the time.) * 'Res Gesti' {'Things Done', Augustus}

The Ancient Romans emerged out of the Italic City-Stated and literally referred to themselves as Italic people who lived in the Italian peninsula . People living in the Italian peninsula are the people who were given the privilege of Juis Soli in the Roman Empire

@@TheGreg991That is not exactly true, There is no way to be certain that ALL Roman blood lines died off. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the patrician families of Ancient Rome ceased to exist. However, even now, 15 centuries after the demise of “the last Roman” Aetius, there are people in Italy and beyond whose lineage can be traced back to the noble families of that distant era. These lineages are not just a matter of historical curiosity; they continue to shape the social and cultural landscape of modern society, often carrying with them a sense of prestige and a connection to a rich cultural heritage.

@@motionpictures6629 Mark Antony is a grandson of Lucius Julius Caesar but to my knowledge "Caesar" descended from Gaius Julius Caesar. Caesar would have been the 4th Gaius Julius Caesar. Mark and Caesar's common ancestor was Sextus Julius Caesar. Sextus is 3x great grandfather to both of them. This is Rome, so they could be related in other ways but this is what I know from their family tree.

I’m very impressed with this video. Great art choices. The narrative and narrator were good too. I didn’t like the piano music in the background tho. They didn’t have pianos in antiquity.

Man I’m BIG into history, and really enjoy your content. I’m also a video editor, and love your style, and i come from a historical family myself. Would love for you to do an episode on my family history the Zapatista’s My grandfather was the leader, my grandfather was the leader in the 60’s during kennedy’s time (Political ally of his until his asssination). The history i would love for you to cover is the 1910 Revolution lead by Emiliano Zapata against 30+ year Dictator Porfirio Diaz, it’s a very interesting piece of history.

damn, that's quite the family history. that's really cool to be immortalized as a part of relevant world history. I'll definitely consider covering it once I move on to more contemporary history

I wish more high school history teachers (and college history professors) were like you. You have an inane way of reaching people in a highly relatable and entertaining manner. And fortunately for us ancient history buffs, you have chosen to apply your unique skills to drawing attention to ancient events (and biographies) which surely have major significance in properly understanding current events in today’s “modern” world. As a wise man once said, like it or not, “History repeats itself.”
