One of the things I'm really impressed over is the way Chris reaches out and gently scrapes the surface of the ground when he picks up a shovel full. That has to make the cleanup after the hauling is finished, much easier. Otherwise, they'd be dealing with gouges, troughs in the ground, and random holes all over the place. Maybe that's part of the reason he's a professional and not just another shovel jockey. Really well done!

When you look at the beginning of this job and the end of this job, you think of the volume that needs to be moved and how many truck loads. However it seems like it took three times as many loads to do the actual job. I guess it is all the air space between the rocks after they are broke up so man that is a lot of extra loading and hauling to do with this job. Makes you wonder if crushing it to sand might have been worth it to reduce haul loads and settling at the dump site. Just a thought. Besides it would have been good to see Charlie.

every time you swing your bucket is 2 seconds behind, those bushings didn't like all that rock haha
@mitchstephen54913 жыл бұрын
Most likely not the rock that has caused the problems. Digging ponds is way harder on the bushings than rock. The water washes the grease out of the bushings and then they wear. My Volvo has 7600 hours on it and most of its life has been digging rock. I just changed the dust seals on my bucket pin and it only had .03mm wear on the pin. Should try working in rock every day, makes you appreciate a little sand or clay to dig in.

This made for some good video, and a lot of good income for Chris, the hammer outfit, and those that drove 400 some loads off site. I really have to question the architect that called for all this high cost, high effort site modification. The FIRST job of a good architect is to understand the project site, and design functional solutions that utilize the existing features. Had the architect been worth a sheit, he/she would gave designed with the rock dome on this location saving many hundreds of thousands of dollars in site prep. Good work, showing what can be done to grade through rocks, but bad work, stupid work, ignorant work, from the architect that called for this whole area to be lowered, rather than built upon. I give Chris and crew an A, and the architect behind this project a D-, avoiding an F only because with the right tools and right people, it was possible to lower the site.
@Blazer02LS3 жыл бұрын
Give the local political mess the credit for the F not the design team. The building codes in the area are why they had to cut it all down instead of build on top. All because the driveway and access cannot be over a set angle.
