dogs stay lean if ya feed them right. problem is, vets dont even give you accurate information either. gotta find it yourself. Just dealt with this vet problem with my 6 month old retriever

Wow. Sherlock is probably the most trained mink I have seen yet that I can think of. Usually they get a little distracted by their kills but as soon as you called him he just left his. Very impressive

I’m impressed by how quickly Gypsy caught more rats in the beginning. And just when she was about to grab the mink, she realized her mistake and jumped away. She’s certainly grown as a ratting dog.

I love how tag is evolving from playing around with the mice and rats by throwing them up, to slowly but surely going for the kill when she gets them. Shows her learning progress and likely that she learned the rats hurt more than the mice would.

That moment when Gypsy almost got Sherlock really stopped my heart. I'm glad she was able to stop herself in the middle of a heated situation 😮‍💨. This is why its so important to have good dogs and good training! Good job Gypsy!

Seeing how the rats love this cluttered junk habitat has given me motivation to clear up my own clutter piles. I’ll either donate, burn, or haul to the dump anything I don’t need, and any NECESSARY clutter (lawnmowers, lumber for projects, etc.) is going to be stacked up on tall pedestals so the rats have nothing to hide under. I have minks, weasels, foxes, and owls that hunt here so hopefully clearing and raising things up will enable them better access while hunting. 🦉🦊

By the way Joe, I had a mini Pinscher, Brok, who was a great ratter, he could get into really tight places and like Bindi just wanted to please all the time. But initially he was like Tag, just wanted to play, throw them around like an Orca does with seals!

This farm has been getting cleaned up for at least a year now. If you notice, those batteries are all together in one area. It's likely that there are still areas to be torn down that may have more batteries hiding. I'm sure they want to only make one "battery" trip to the recycle or dump place. You should have seen the literal mountain of tires they have removed!😊

@@wendyganel3353 I think the property was either abandoned or a very elder relative lived there for decades. They have been working on cleanup ( and fixing things) for over a year now, and if I recall, most of the people helping in the efforts don't live there. It can get very expensive, as they have also brought in heavy equipment, etc.. and done their best to sort the debris into separate piles. I don't even know them, but I like to give credit where it is due!😊

I have to admit when you first got tag after the first couple of videos with her. I was a bit unsure if she would be a successful ratting dog, but now it's amazing to see her improvement over time. I think as she gets older and loses some of the puppy qualities she will be great maybe not bindi or boss great, but she will definitely be a force to recon with. If only she would stop running away with the rat😅

Hi there, this is a bit of a random comment but I just wanted to say how glad I am for this channel's existence. I can't really watch these videos myself (I'm a bleeding heart, I've grown up with rodents as pets so it's not easy for me, lol), but I understand that these are infestations and these dogs and minks are doing a very important job, and doing it very well. Wanted to put a thank you because recently I got into an argument with someone regarding outdoor domestic cats, and I was able to point to your videos as an example of what real, trained pest control with live animals should look like. I understand barn cats are a thing, but if you want controlled pest extermination that won't do harm to native wildlife (and won't result in a shorter-on-average life-span for the cat), dogs (and minks!) that are properly trained and supervised, like your special boys and girls, are the right way to do it. Again, sorry for the randomness of this comment! I've always admired this channel (from a distance) and the important work of environmentally friendly pest control.

"Tag has really improved!" Not really. As we can see in this vid she STILL plays with the rats, doesn't dispatches them and runs off. That's inefficiency and wastes time. Moreover, she doesn't come back to Joe when given the command.

The rat hanging on your sleeve reminded me of a cartoon I saw like thirty yrs ago.. it was a man standing at a receptionist's window, filling our forms, and the woman asked the man if he had any particular identifiable marks, and he said he had a mole on his butt. There was a MOLE hanging on his pants, w big teeth and huge eyes. Was funny. Strange the things we remember, isn't it? Lol.

Those junk piles are going to keep being homes for them. Especially if there is dirt to burrow in, and grain accessible nearby. I guess once you are done, poison could be used to keep them low. I doubt the grain bins are readily accessible, but rats sneak through cracks you couldn’t tell were there, up pipes and through spaces you’d not imagine. So maybe no poison.

When my furbaby goes after something she stays focused on that one thing. So much so she doesnt pay attention to whats around her. Example; she chased after a rabbit and ran right into my moms parked truck xD if she had ducked she might not have. Tag at 6:35 had me thinking she was gonna smack into that bar xD reminded me of my dog. Loved the video

24:15 I know exactly where Tag was, off behind a grain bucket having herself a little rat-snack. ;-) I think she'll be a decent ratter once she grows fully out of the puppy hijinks, but right now has to be a bit frustrating to work with. Still all the dogs did well today, though Bindi runs away with the prize as always. Love how she gets wiser and wiser every hunt. Alot of us have been comparing her to Boss for a while now, she's really adopting his techniques well. I also love how she left the half-grown rat for Gypsy, as if saying 'I don't even want credit for that little rat you have it little dog'.

I remember a year ago Bindi was new and being shown how to rat by Boss and you were having to rest her so she didn't wear herself out. Now a year later we sadly have no Boss but now have Bindi passing everything that she learnt from Boss at this very job onto Tag.

The reasons why they don't move those batteries is that ground is already polluted if they move those batteries and they crack open just think of how much more ground they're going to pollute so they just leave them there and I agree with that

I could have used Sherlock at my house a week ago. We had a mouse explosion. My Australian Shepherd killed 3 small mice on her own and 4 more that got trapped in a bucket. She is trying really hard, but she isn't quite fast enough. 😊

Cats don't mess with rats. They prefer helpless prey like birds, chipmunks, and moles. You'll often see a rat chasing a cat away 😅

You'd shut down a good chunk of farms like this. No need to shut it down if you can get the rats under control in the end.
