You would have enjoyed knowing one of my customers from back in the 80s, who at one time had a Lincoln coupe and roadster for every year from 1932 - 46. I personally worked on his 1939 Lincoln Zephyr 2 door sedan when he brought it out of storage to use. I put a dual carb intake manifold on it for him and I even got to "test drive" it with him. The old V12s were extremely smooth, though not very powerful. Some of his cars had be converted to later V8s, Chrysler hemi, Corvette 327, early Ford Yblock 312, etc. He also collected Nash Metropolitans and left me one in his will. There were several parts cars and a garage bay full of parts that I couldn't take as I was moving out of state. The second floor of his barn was loaded with piles of Lincoln parts of all kinds. His name was Doc Barrows. He was a member of the Lincoln club of America. Great old gentleman with a truly unique collection of cars. Oh, I didn't mention that his daily driver was a 64 Studebaker Lark...

1977 everyday after school my friend and I went to his dads business. There we helped his dad and in the process learned how to restore a 39 FORD De Lux. The Lincoln Zephyr was our dream car. The 39 is still winning concours de’Elegance at car show’s. My friend has restored 4 Classic Mustangs and many more Fords and Chevy’s etc. Revamped and modernised 1 Mustang. It’s his hobby.

To my knowledge I have never seen one of these, but around a third of the way through the video, I was beguiled! The image of the front end as it was on the (really nice) trailer was the bit that finally hooked me, yup! I was captivated by that gorgeous style - And what style it has! The seller clearly loved his car, and had accepted the reality that he was never going to be able to do it justice, and so he passed it on to the man whom would! Having seen your artistry with metal, there isn't anything that you can't do with this to make it just how you want, the seller recognised that too! I think it's in very good condition and is well worth your investment. How fortunate that we'll get to see you bring this car to life, I'm really happy for you that you got the car of your dreams, it's lucky to find itself in your hands. If car's could speak, this one would be pretty stoked at what lies ahead...

Our car is apart and I can take pictures and measure the whole car. You mentioned in your video about extending the doors and making the quarters to make it a coupe. 43 years ago my dad, brother and I were looking for a Ford project. The first sniff was a ‘29 Plymouth. Not quite right. Next up we went to check out a Lincoln Zepyhr coupe. As a 15 year old I knew that this was it. I was shocked at how tiny the pistons were, they looked like tomato paste cans. It was a project for sure. Dad walked away from it. I pouted for weeks. I was not happy that dad dragged home a ‘39 Ford sedan months later. I’ll never forget that Zephyr sitting in that bank barn. Never. I hope it found a good home.

A man here in Stillwater Minnesota used to have a body shop. He has a late 1930’s Lincoln Zephyr and it looks really good. His needed a new trunk floor and they are extremely hard piece to find. Lookup auction prices for 1930’s Lincoln Zephyr but sit down first as they can sell for much more than 1960’s muscle cars.

Yea I’m well aware of the prices and even more aware of how lucky I am to get this one in the shape it’s in. Some I’ve seen (convertibles) hit near 400k usd just crazy!

Yeah I’ve got a buddy over there with the shop he’s been telling me what the prices are it’s pretty crazy and I can see why so many of our cars are ending up over there! It’s actually worth shipping them in containers

Just found this channel, and it’s so awesome! I’ve got a 1939 Chevy pickup my grandfather left me, his dad bought it used in 41 at the local Chevrolet dealer. I plan to build it pretty soon but have no idea witch direction to go. I don’t wanna cut up a virgin 39 pickup. But I also don’t want to throw a v8 in a 39 pickup and call it done lol. I never liked hydraulics or low riders but that’s definitely growing on me. At this point I realize I just need to watch and learn some more ha. Awesome content though man! Watching from Georgia, USA

Right on Cody! You own my favourite track of all time. I’ve been dreaming of a 39 Chevrolet since I first saw one. The lines on that pick up our amazing the grill is perfect. I like them done more like a bomb. Low and all the extra chrome goodies

@@MakeItKustom thanks for the reply! And I agree, the low look would look awesome. I just have allot of learning to do before I dive in haha. I dig your style of builds so I'm gonna keep watching and learning!

I believe they produced some fibreglass Zephyr 3 Window Coupe bodies, so you might be able to source a fibreglass deck lid. If not, a 39,40 Coupe deck lid is another option. I remember I guy over here built a 39 Willys Gasser coupe out of a sedan and used a glass deck lid for the base.
@MakeItKustom3 жыл бұрын
Yes they definitely did! And they still do produce those bodies. There won’t be any fibreglass in this car but I appreciate the idea. I’m going to push myself to make everything from steel hand formed
