Great video and project. Just my imagination and my 2 typing fingers getting carried away, but from your video and with enough cameras in the cab and in the sky in a drone, I can almost see the day when companies would operate the equipment on projects like this from a control room in an office (in a job site trailer or in a high rise in the next state). You get a better overall view of the project than down at ground level obviously. It seems like you could theoretically increase the efficiency of the whole operation if you and/or your dad (with a room full of operators) were to monitor and orchestrate all activities from a central command center.

DLH, The road won't move as you did it properly with the proper sub base, people who don't know have made the mistake of not removing all the clay and soil down to a hard base and just put road base gravel on top, result is all the soft material will keep coming to the top when heavy loads are driven over it.

actorzone plenty of roads are built on clay buddy
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 5 жыл бұрын
Clay works good here for building as long as the moisture is low enough but you are right you have to get to something solid to build on or it will come apart under heavy loads seen it happen lots of times.
@actorzone856
@actorzone856 5 жыл бұрын
@@Jake25755, for one it depends how deep the clay is from the road surface, i am referring to clay within a few meters from the surface, if you place the road surface under very heavy loads its going to end up being forced up to the surface, that's why roads fall apart.
@Jake25755

@@DLHFarmsyes there's a fair bit to know about that sort of work, what makes a difference as well is sub soil drainage and laying a pipe network to drain off any underlying water that may collect, depends on whether you are building a road for light traffic or an airport to land aircraft on i suppose.

I don't understand how guys run out of fuel on a construction site. You either fill up at the end of the day or at the beginning of the day everyday then you never have issues like that. I hope that they check the oil and transmission and coolant on a daily basis
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 5 жыл бұрын
It's because those trucks don't get used consistently. They might run 1 hour today and 5 hours tomorrow with a different operator and the fuel gauges don't work on any of them. The oil gets checked every day but sometimes we use them all week on the same tank of fuel. The dozers and excavators are a different story they run mostly all day every day so they get fueled and greased daily.

Your pretty good with the drone . Check out Phantom Movie who does a lot of Ponsse wood cutting video's . I think you could get some pretty good idea's from him . He is one of the best at drone video's in my opinion .
