Join us in an exclusive hands-on video exploring the Beretta NARP (New Assault Rifle Platform), featuring insights from Andrea Candian of Beretta Defense Technologies, Carlo Ferlito, General Manager of Beretta, and Martin, a retired SAS Veteran involved in the rifle's development. The NARP (which will not be called the NARP, by the way - that's just the program name) boasts a modular design, AR-style controls, and is adaptable to various stocks. With three barrel lengths and compatibility with MIL-STD-1913, STANAG 4640, and M-LOK interfaces, it's designed for versatility, including use with Beretta's new B-Silent suppressor. Discover the innovation behind this tactical rifle, its performance in the field, and the expertise that shaped its creation.

Eugene Stoner’s AR ergonomics is so revolutionary and perfect, its inspired so many rifles to imitate its manual of arms.
@sdrobo

It's not that. It's that the US market is so dominant and so hostile to non-american-style approaches that if you don't do something at leas similar to an AR-15, it won't sell. US market is too used to it. This is the motive. Of course we have to give credit to Stoner that was a great engineer, however.

It’s too bad they didn’t attempt to update the ARX. The heart of the ambi system was great. However the body (e.g. optic rail, ergos, charging handle, trigger) was atrocious. I can’t imagine it would have been hard for Beretta to refine the rifle after all the user feeedback

Bro, stop it... The Sig Spear LT is clearly the nicer rifle. Also, did you happen to understand what the Beretta rep said about the side charging handle, if it will have it or not?

Love Beretta, I hope they have more success with this than with the ARX100. I picked one up used and loved it, but Beretta quickly pulled their support (parts, barrels, etc). I know this isn't scheduled for US commercial distribution, yet. But if it succeeds in Europe, it will. Hope they support it when it does.

I feel like the Sig Spear, this Beretta, and the POF Revolution are all short stroke battle riffles. Even Adams' arms have something similar. It is just varying levels of quality. Some disassembling tricks here and there.

1) Weight constraints. Nowadays several things have to be attached to the rifle, so the rifle has to be lightweight, that means aluminium or polymer frame, and a "soft" frame requires frontal locking lugs. Multilug bolts are preferred due to the most locking surface for the lowest rotation needed to lock-unlock. .223 is also specifically a bitch to recoil-delay, so gas actions are almost mandatory. 2) Suppression. Short stroke gas piston are cleaner than DI and long stroke, colder than DI, have lower reciprocating mass than long stroke, are more easily suppressed than DI. 3) Dimensions. Over the bolt recoil spring makes for shorter receivers than all-in-line AR15. So everything is going to look like an AR18 derivate. Not because they want to copy the AR18, but because in the Ar18 had been for the first time put together those three things (even if they had been invented decades before) that are now almost mandatory Alternatives? The very short long-stroke gas piston of the Perun X16 (so low reciprocating mass and a spring less than short stroke gas pistons) coupled with the old Breda rising bolt action of the Breda PG (frontal locking lug, but not rotating) would work just as well. But development costs. Who forces designers to start from a clean sheet, when you already KNOW that the AR18-style action works?

Really cool looking system. On the civilian side, I think this has the possibility to really compete with the Sig MCX line if the price is right.

Interesting. The take down system and barrel nut look very similar to the system employed in the DRD Tactical CDR-15 and APTUS rifles.
