Firstly, it's a trainer aircraft and Pakistan doesn't gain anything technologically by technology transfer that can't already be gained from JF-17 tech transfer. Secondly, it hampers Chinese export interests by allowing Pakistan to export locally produced versions. Only makes sense to buy them from China and localize the maintainance and repairs. And then work on an indigenous next generation platform to replace it in the coming decades. Got to stop asking for favours.

L-15 is a super sonic aircraft capable of flying at Mach 1.4. It is superior to K-8, FT-5, and even F-6 aircraf. Hence It will most probably replace FT-5 (Mig-17) trainer aircraft for fighter conversion (FCU) of pilots after graduation from PAF Academy as well as for the operational conversion after FCU. T-37 probably crashed as a result of mid-air collision and not because of any mechanical failure. Besides, K-8, a modern trainer is also being used for advance training at Risalpur Academy.
