My guess is that the story takes place after the west one. The two Wukong are most likely his mortal form and Buddha form that have split so he can act in the mortal world. Buddha is the one with the get up and the mortal one looks more normal. This guess comes from the fact that during the story he is most of the time said to look like the one haveing normal cloths, and the armor one is mostly talked about at the end when he comes to terms with himself and doesn't fight the monk anymore and later when a Buddha. For some who don't understand why the need to split it is becuase Buddhas are not to mess with the mortal world unless other immortals do.

Btw Afro the reason he’s able to turn into the fly and the giant ape is cause he has mastered the 72 transformations, basically you can transform into 72 forms and each one has there own life, so if you somehow killed him in his base monkey form he could just go into another form and it will have his same strength, also the “shadow clone jutsu” was the cool thing that he can do were he can made clones of himself with his same strength and immortality just by his hair, and he has I think like 15,000 hairs and he can bite his hair into many different peices to make more clones just off his one hair, so those 15,000 hairs could instead be made into like 40,000 clones, oh yeah and those clones can use there hairs to make even more hairs

For me I'm glad they didn't show the release date, to be honest I completly forgot about this game but thats ok. Seeing this game still in develop just tells how much effort they are adding to this game I love it, the creativity for this game is unbelievable, realistic. The amount of ways you can dodge the attack, the amount of ways you can parry attacks the amount of ways you can transform and each transformation has its own ability and dodge its incredible. I would GUESS this is a prequel to Journey to the West. Basically Wukong was a super strong martial artist/sorcerer who was so powerful and reckless he ticked off EVERYBODY. He was then imprisoned and then was freed/enslaved by a monk using a golden crown. As Wukong is lacking his crown, I would guess this may be before he is imprisoned.

Sun Wukong is so broken that if he fought Goku or Beerus, with his 72 earthly transformations, he can make himself as strong as them. But he would still probably lose. ? Sun wukong beats the entire dbs verse by himself, Wukong has achieved immortality at minimum 100's of times over and has achieved nirvana freeing him of all limitations. He is a boundless entity that is everywhere at once and not only that but at the end of the journey to the west he tranceseded this nirvana. A single clone could wipe the verse and he wouldn't even get hit.
