We move here 16 yrs ago from NY! My advice is to learn about native animals, plants and herbs! Get 2 water reserves and one good water filter! Learn to can food, use our plants and herbs to cure and maintain yourselves healthy! I wanted to start videos to help newcomers with this but life put me to care for mom with alziehmers! One day I will start showing how to live self sufficient and you will be so happy! Many blessings!

I left upstate NY at age ten and moved to Rio Canas Arriba Mayaguez that has similar view looking into the sea. Your kids have a better appreciation than I did. Water would go out. And power. I was so bored. No TV. Roads bad. School far. No sports. BUT as an old man I look back and see how peaceful and beautiful the area is. Land that will be with your family for generations. Best of luck. Beautiful out there. Take care.

Beautiful land to build hermano! Make sure that the "fill" pad where you plan to build is stable, with good compaction and a stable slope (well-rooted). Protect it from erosion, and follow good building codes. In other words, hire a Puerto Rico-licensed civil engineer to help you prepare, before you build your beautiful home. Blessings!

Beautiful country and your view will be amazing from your new house. How fortunate you are to build in such a great location. But how unfortunate for pigs on the island. Hopefully the chicken will inspire the children, and adults too, to be vegetarians and be kind to animals. Pigs are sentient beings and just want to be loved. Be the change. No one needs meat to live. It's also environmentally wasteful. Raising meat takes way more resources than eating vegetables. Thank you for your nice video. I wish you well and hope to see more of your beautiful country.

You guys remind me of me and my wife and daughters when we had moved to Puerto Rico five years ago. We stood there for a year and we ended up returning back to New Jersey. Reason that we left was because the schools were not doing to well with education mostly do to low funding. Although looking at it now we didn't really give it try since we left so quick and didn't give it enough time to solve the kinks. We could've home schooled our girls and did okay. Puerto Rico is a beautiful place to live and a wonderful experience. At least my daughters was able to learn her roots and culture. I could see myself living there again in the near future.
