Only ever had an issue with mine one time... and it took me 15 minutes to realize that I forgot to attach to antennas lol. Seriously great unit. Love what DJI's doing with this product, I'll never look back to teradek

Same latency of most of the slower transmitters like Hollyland, Accsoon and Vaxxis atom series

I bought one for the show I’m Dp’ing as a alternate to the teradek system I’m using and the reliability is incredible for dji!!! My producers and directors complain less compared to my teradek serve pros. So I’m pretty much selling my teradeks and fully going in with dji!!! Now all DJI has to do is make so you can at least see 2 cameras on one screen.

Actually I just watched the DJI product announcement video and I see that you can switch between multiple cameras one one monitor ….so yeah officially switching!! Bye teradek!!!!

I spoke to DJI tech assistant and they confirmed you can view up to 16 cameras on one high bright monitor receiver. Only downside is it can take a few seconds to switch back and forth. Hoping to pick up one soon.

Ive seen people use this transmitter for fpv drones. If the latency is fast enough for them it should be fast enough for ac’s. Plus as an ac you should always be in line of sight of your dp/cam op whenever possible.

@@thedopjanare you sure it’s been the DJI transmission and not the DJI Air Unit… Yes you could easily have one on an FPV drone but you definitely wouldn’t be flying from it I guarantee. It would have taken the video from the cinema camera, not the onboard FPV camera.

Found on my pair that the RX unit will in-fact pass through power without the unit itself being turned on but the TX unit will not when put in the same situation just like yours! Great system but what a fricken quirk lol

It's interesting that the IO is on the operator side on the gold mount plate. On the Vmount version it's on the other side.

DJI seems pretty good at no bullshit just works kind of like what Apple fans used to try and say about their products The DJI wireless microphone system has been flawless for me so why would this be any different One question though if you buy the kit with the screen how do you get SDI out into your mixer if you're using it for live? Do they have a screen with SDI out ?

You can buy a module with SDI out that screws onto the back of the monitor. $369 if I recall correctly

How easy is it to bump that switch and turn everything off (including the camera)? I don't see a ton of light switches for power on camera gear (for good reason).

Not super easy since the button is flush with the unit and needs to be held down, but I could see how someone could accidentally press it when handling the camera. It's more of an issue with the plate itself which Tilta needs to redesign.

How is the latency for focus pulling? In my experiences the 2.4/5ghz systems haven't been much good for other than client/ department monitors.

Hmmm... at $1600 for the receiver and $1000 for a transmitter, I'm on the fence. Teradek can play back 2-4 streams on an iPad app. If DJI can do that, it might be a very worthwhile option. Either way, I'll be trying to rent first.

Unforunatly for me as an AC I really wont touch this unless it is for a client or director's monitor feed. It just has too much latency for me personally. Anything that makes me even of a fraction of a second late can make all the difference. Teradek and Vaxis are really the only options at this point unfortunately. Vaxis also doesn't have a 4k option so that puts it behind at least the XT Teradek models. Too bad really, was looking forward to this. We really need more competition in this space. Still considering purchasing a Bolt 6 XT Max.... but hard to justify Also lol at the SDI port being on the Op side, makes me question how much feedback they got from professionals on this before release 🧐

The reason you can't compare many 'cheaper' systems to Teradek is that Teradek is a 'Zero' latency system and the image is 'uncompressed'. Many cheaper systems have unworkable latency for a focus puller and also introduce image compression which degrades the image. This is how they get such great range. The latency is there as a sort of cache and the compression is there so that the data needing to be sent is less which is how cheaper Wifi systems get much further range than Teradek. Teradek systems are sending much larger streams of data and have zero latency so can't rely on an 'image cache' to correct for any signal issues hence, their lower range despite the higher price. Different tools for a different job! It would be helpful if you mentioned latency and image quality in complex scenes when viewed on larger monitors like the SmallHD1303 and bigger as this is where you really notice the difference between the cheaper but longer range systems and Teradek.

I used one , and it was fine for a non critical feed, but it wasn’t showing a flicker and that would have been a huge problem if not noticed on the primary Teradek system that was being used concurrently. The compression made the flicker completely average out. But if you just need to hand a client monitor to somebody it’s fine. My biggest issue with DJI products is their support is terrible once a new version of whatever you have comes out. As a company they abandon you with tech support and updates. I have two original DJI wireless follow focus kits that have odd bugs and glitches that were supposed to be fixed with software, but the updates never came.

I feel that, there were definitely a few moments where we noticed really weird artifacting as well as some latency. Perfectly fine for client usage as you said.
