You did the shaft correctly, the spline type you just pull a couple of times and they come out. Not much to worry about apart from pulling the cv apart but that as well isn't a big problem

The 20XE (156bhp) or C20XE (150 bhp) is a non-turbo engine. Only its upscale version, the C20LET (204 bhp), is turbocharged. And i had both Kadett E and Golf Mk2...believe me, the Kadett is much, much easier to work on!!!

Yes, my non-turbo engine has been converted into a turbocharged engine
