So cool you grew up around and on boats and your parents taught you about them, how to keep up with them etc... Having said that, super cool the YOU TWO listened, learned, and more importantly put in the hard work to actually learn it to be able to DO IT(does that makes sense). It says a lot about your character as people. Glad I stumbled on your channel about a month ago...fun times ahead.

I scuba dive, but I really need to take a class on free diving. There are some skills there to be learned if I ever have a catastrophic failure on my gear while at depth. Lol. I caught myself holding my breath while Nathalie was training in the pool. I don't suppose I wasn't in any danger of drowning in my office.

What did your dad do to his leg? I didn't notice the cane last season. Did I miss an update? Also, are the through hulls brass or bronze? You may or may not know this, but brass will get brittle when submerged in salt water for a few years. It's highly recommended that you replace brass through hulls every 5 years or so (I don't remember the exact time frame) because of that. They will get so brittle you can just snap the stems right off when you go to close the through hull. That's not any fun at all!!! IMO, bronze is the way to go, even if they are the most expensive of all the options.
@SailingTheFarSide

That the auto-pilot making that whirring noise down in the cabin at 4:30am.? Not gonna lie, that would take some getting used to... but it probably helps cover up the noise of grinding coffee beans. 😂 And I used to be able to sleep on an Aircraft Carrier during Flight Ops in my younger days (mostly out of sheet exhaustion)

Nice video. I enjoy the non glamourous side of boat life, and your preparations for Bahamas. I think you have a great attitude towards work and a good balance of courage vs. planning, preparations and safety. Good idea to take a freediving course and certify yourself, as well as getting to know your boat in the Bahamas, rather than running head over heels into the south pacific. You will get there eventually. Fair winds

@SailingTheFarSide
@SailingTheFarSide 4 жыл бұрын
When you buy a new mask there is a film on the inside that causes a lot of the fogging. You can either scrub the film out or burn it off. Burning it is a lot easier if you know what your doing 😁

I assume you girls know this, but non-gel toothpaste is good to use a few times a year just to keep the mask clean, especially if you use it a lot (like I assume you do). A clean mask is less likely to fog for sure! It's not just that initial film that will make your mask fog.

When you get a new mask, you have to scrub the film out of the inside or it will always fog. You can scrub it or you can burn it out! But you have to be very careful
