@@illustratingchristy Ironically I only sell one zodiac related sticker lol I sell mostly bullet journaling and reading journal type stickers. I enjoyed IT when I started. I was doing desktop support and installations, but as a major introvert, whenever I had to do phone support I hated it. Plus, the company I worked for was known for doing random layoffs all the time (think 3 letter IT co), so for years and years I felt like everyone was always worried about being on one of those massive layoff lists. Sucked to be honest. I'm only able to do this now because my husband took his IT job with him when we moved. Even though things get tight, I am so much happier now doing something I really enjoy and putting my all into it! So satisfying!! Watching your video, I could feel your excitement, which made me smile :) I wish you the best!!! Oh and I'm on etsy under purplepiscescreation Can't wait to follow you on this journey!

@@Merrcow I have been using Capcut! It is SO easy to use and they have lots of cute audio in there as well. I also record on my phone so I don't have a fancy camera so I use capcut's filters for my videos!

Tips for resin if your gonna try to turn them into miniatures or key chains 1. Mix light glitter and colored ink with resin before pouring, gives more control over color and prevents clumping of glitter 2.layer your resin since your making it space themed make sure your resin is clear and not cloudy or yellow so you can see charms and other items you put in resin, but mak it in layers so for example first layer can be Boba pearls and bottom of straw layer with resin and cure continue prosses till your liking. 3. Make sure there's not alot of air bubble or pockets so before curing pop those bubbles or can cure incorrectly 4. Try try untill you succeed and have fun❤

@illustratingchristy Honestly I haven't used resin personally but I watch alot of resin videos so I've seen resin artist open windows or do the project outside in garage/studio/ balconies, I've seen some use mask depending on the type of resin and the amount they use but if it's a tiny amount you should be okay without one. And all use gloves so im guessing its not safe for skin ir is like an irritant and of course just make sure you clean your workspace and I would do more research and watch videos just to make sure. Also, I just wanted to say you've inspired me to continue what I want to do as I want to start an art buisness too but have been afraid to be seen and just don't feel like I'm ready I don't have a nice work area and very little materials and am currently pregnant so I don't even know if I can even work with resin yet and as far as digital art goes for some reason I'm struggling to just draw and feel like I'm over complicating it like I know what I want to do but I feel limited.

@@artsycrafts7958 I felt the exact same way. My son is just now turning two so it wasn't long ago when I was having similar thoughts and overthinking the entire process of just starting. It is overwhelming but I'm learning to take it one day at a time and be patient with myself. The key is to just start! I also had a messy desk haha. I don't even have all the materials I need but I decided to start with what I have. Definitely consider doing something you like that isn't toxic to the baby first and then branch out when you're ready. I hope to hear updates on your progress! I'm so happy to hear you're motivated to start!

You're mess is pretty organized, I love your art work and I know you will certainly have success with your shop. I'm 34 and realized I am miserable been bouncing from job to job, none of which that pay me enough. I let the misery last too long, I no longer do the things I love like music and art. Decided to get back into art this year and also want to open a shop but I definitely don't have all the things I need to do that. But, I want to just try to just use my current resources and do it like you said stop procrastinating because I will always feel like I need or want more before starting. What are the markers named you are using, what type of tablet are you using, and what program are you using to create the bobba tea art, I am in the learning phase of how to digitize my art and you seem to seamless use that program. So, far I've tried a few different programs but not loving them. I think I am going to attempt inkscape because I think it will work best for my needs but what your using seems seamless too. Also, love the bobba tea zodiac signs simple but fun designs so far. You inspired me to scale back I have been making designs too complex especially since I have been out of practice.

The markers are Ohuhu Markers, the best affordable alcohol markers that compare with Copics. The iPad I use is an iPad Pro. I want to sell stickers, prints, custom commissions, and jewelry, do you have any affordable equipment that wont take much space in my small room that you would also recommend? I have actually seen a lot of KZbin videos out there of people making stickers without expensive devices like a cricut. One of those KZbinrs is called YayDay Paper Co. Check them out! Also, if you do have a printer at home, try printing one of your prints and see how you like the color and texture of paper. You don't have to have a fancy printer to make prints. Custom commissions can be advertised on Instagram if you already have a following there. If not, use a platform where people are familiar with your artwork to let them know you have opened up commissions. Lastly, jewelry is fun to make! You can buy affordable supplies at your local art store: like beads, charms, etc. Get creative and make something unique to your art style. Needless to say, you won't need to spend hundreds of dollars just to get started. So start small by trying things that could potentially work for you and then expand and invest as time goes by and you become more comfortable.

Before Dec I didn't create art for about 4 years and in Jan I challenged myself to a 366-day drawing challenge to shake off the rust, stay consistent with creating daily, and help me plan out shop products and ideas. Today marks day 187 and even though I'm not where I would like to be artistically yet, I am leaps and bounds ahead of where I was in Dec, yay progress ^_^ now if I could only figure out the social media algorithm hahaha

Hi! Loved this! Your studio actually looks insanely rad and is very organized. Your art is adorable. I watched your video as I swatched my new set of Ohuhu markers and worked on some old sketches. I come from a clinical therapy background - a world I am still very much invested in. But I am continually researching and drawing and drawing and drawing with the hopes to launch my small art business soon. Art makes me so happy. But it's fascinating how many of us are on similar paths; I almost feel as though we could form a monthly meet & greet/social/networking over virtual coffee among emerging artists (if anyone is already doing/hosting such a thing please invite me lol). I am still in disbelief with how many people have told me they are on a similar path or they have been feeling the same things I have. It's so nice to feel like I'm not alone. I think you are on to something though! We should definitely have some kind of meet & greet for artists like us who work full time, but are working towards a common goal. That would be awesome! I saw one of your latest videos on your new equipment and working on art as well as feeling the nerves and I have to say that you’re videos thus far are positive and convey your excitement but are also realistic since you are obviously stepping into unknown territory and therefore understandably unsure at times. We feel you and appreciate you for your willingness to share! P.S. Ohuhus really are the best! I’m enjoying both the pointy thin tips and the brush tip ones (i had to order a small batch of the brush tips as my first large batch was missing some primary colours). I’m surprised with how fun they are to use as I’m more inclined to digital art and have been pushing myself to use more physical media for art practice! Love it so far

My full time artist friends are dealing with the economic fall out and not getting as much work as they did in the past. Being an artist with a day job gives you the ability to get paid even when art commissions or sales are slow. There are also good tax advantages for artist with day jobs. I have done IT and art for many years and I'm glad that I was able to balance both. Money always comes in even when the art business is slow.

Yes, I've heard that's as well. I don't have any plans to leave my job any time soon. I'm a long way away from that. But I am in a place in my life where I'm finally realizing what I am actually more passionate about. Where that will lead me, I don't know, but I know that I don't want to allocate so much after hour time at my full time job as I have in the past and instead I will invest in myself and my family. I would never do anything that would financially cripple my family as I am the bread winner.

​@@illustratingchristy Your Journey as an artist with a day job can lead you to a lot of expansive paths. Think of your job as the very boring but consistent contract client/patron. That regular income and benefits empowers you to pursue the art that you want to make. It will also give you the cushion to see who is loving what you do creatively and who is supporting the work financially. Lots of people will praise the work, too bad it usually is not equal to how many people will commission you or buy your art. When you have base income to handle the expenses in life, you are free of "The struggle being real" money problems. I love creating.... and most artist feel the same.... we got to " Just Do it! " LOL! Best of luck to you financially! Even better wishes to your creative dreams being fulfilled!
