I found for me that the mousse by itself made my hair soft, but with the UFD, it made my hair dry. I think I am one of the few people that don't actually like UFD no matter how many different ways I try to use it.

You probably have already tried this, but I’ll ask any way. Have you tried applying it to soaking wet hair? My hair hates UFD unless I apply it to soaking wet hair, and I have to be careful with how much I apply because if I apply too much my hair gets gummy and frizzy. It’s for sure one of those products that you have to keep playing around with to figure out what method of application works best for you. Also shake before you use it because I’ve noticed that every time I get to the bottom of the bottle the consistency is different than the top and middle. It’s more gummy and affects my results.
@octaviachante
@octaviachante 3 жыл бұрын
@@tiahnarodriguez3809 I have. I've applied it in the shower with my hair drenched in water and outside the shower with somewhat wet hair and it actually applies better outside of the shower for me. For some reason, it causes my hair to tangle a bit if I'm in the shower no matter how wet my hair is. It's weird, I know. Plus, I still get flakes from it no matter how little or how much I put on. It could be the aloe, idk. I actually tried to use aloe vera gel as a leave-in like LaToya and, oh boy, I will never do that again. My hair seized and tangled up so bad even though my soaking wet, but there are products I have that have aloe vera that doesn't do my hair like that. I, honestly, don't have to patience to fidget with a product that much. So to try to use it up, I sometimes use it if I want to do two-strand twists protective style for a few days. There's other issues I have with it, but I think my response has gotten a bit too long lol. Thanks for trying to help though!

I reall enjoy the Design Essentials Mousse Curl Enhancing mousse a lot! It holds up better in humid conditions and is formulated with oils so I have a softer finish feel with some nice sheen. I have tried the UFD and and Mousse Def combo but I feel it worked best for me when the air /climate was dryer because it held up better under those conditions.

@@faithmillington3781 It depends on the finish and feel you looking for. I like the finish I get using the Giovanni Direct-leave in under it because I like the texture he leave-I it gives my hair and the mousse is a nice finisher that actually gives me more hold, humidity-defense, smoothness and sheen and especially when I set it with my hooded drier or rarely blow dryer.
@Ossouko
@Ossouko 3 жыл бұрын
@@faithmillington3781 I do leave in /or a moisturiser (a pea size) for each section + mousse for my twist out .Leave in (sometimes) +UFD+ Mousse but I prefer the Innersense gel results. I get more days out of my WnG. How you dry your hair might be factor (air drying vs indirect heat) . The cast created by the gels may make you think your hair is dry but it’s fine. It might take a minute to get used to it but on day 2/3 gel/mousse cast wears off a bit .

I tried Moouse Def by itself but my hair felt dry and it barely lasted two days. Then I tried layering it with the big poppa gel but would need to use a ton of the gel which resulted in the mousse being irrelevant lol. Turns out my go to wash and go which I am still shocked about cause it’s so old school. But S-Curl moisturizer spray first/then S-Curl activator gel second/finally xtreme gel. My wash and go’s come out soft/super defined, and last a full week. And it’s hella affordable.

Can I just say, your hair is stunning 🤩. Absolutely gorgeous! UFD and Mousse Def used to be my combos, which I loved…until I didn’t (same reason…dry feeling). I swear we’re having the same journey😂 just used this yesterday and I loved it more than the 1st time. Once u learn how use it it’s amazing. It won’t give u a week-long wng but it’s quick and easy to apply and the drying time is cut in half. I only get like 3 days max with this but I’m ok with that cuz it’s easy to redo. It’s best on soaking wet hair by itself. And try not to separate until your hair is completely dry. The owner has a detailed video on yt and ig on how to use it and it helps. I personally have to stretch because the shrinkage is a no for me😂

I did a one product wash and go Thursday using Mousse Def. Day 1 looked similar to my gel sets. It dried a lot quicker though. Day 2 looked more like what I expected - my hair had definition, but it was light and fluffy. I wouldn’t describe my hair as feeling dry. It just felt like my hair without product. I wore it for 3 days and went back to my crunchy UFD + ICH gold set that gives me a week. It was a good experiment. I might purchase another mousse to compare. Random note: I don’t think you ever need to flip your head over or do anything extra to get volume. You have the density that will automatically create volume within a short amount of time. ☺️ I wear a scarf on my head instead of a bonnet to control the direction of the way my hair squishes overnight 😆

The only products that allow my hair to have long lasting hold, softness, and does not dry my hair are the Kinky Curly products. Maya from The Doux is consistently telling folks that the Doux products are meant to be used on their own. She posted a video about this recently. I use Pop n Lock when I’m out of Kinky Curly. It holds for days but it does not have the softness and look that Kinky Curly gives. Big Poppa has the humectants but not the hold I get from Kinky Curly Knot Today and Curling Custard. That’s my hair though! Everyone is different 😀

Hi LaToya, thanks for the content. Nice to see a content creator with my level of shrinkage lol. I’m a mixed type 4, with thick-ish, dense hair. Mostly 4b and 4c curls) and I’m also tender-headed, so I tend to avoid wash-n-go’s. I also hate commercial gel and avoid it like the plague (I don’t like my hair being dry and crunchy). I love your wash-n-go’s but..........Does it make detangling longer and more difficult than say.......a twist-out? I wash in sections and keep my hair in stretched sections, but when I attempted a wash in go.........I was detangling for like 1/2 hr or 45 minutes longer on wash day. Does anyone else have that issue? If so, any tips? I wish I could post a pic or video of my hair (I achieve EXCELLENT results from my twist-outs using DIY flax gel and the oils I make. It’s soft and has great movement.......didn’t so much on my first wash-n-go. Plus it took FOREVER to dry. It doesn’t seem worth all the effort.......do u (anyone) have any tips for me??

I feel you with Hair Rules mousse on top of Uncle Funky’s daughter gel. My hair felt soft. But then the ‘I create hold’ was finally delivered, so I used that on top of Uncle Funky. I found my curls really defined!!! My hair isn’t crunchy, but it is not as soft as with hair rules. Also, I’m not sure if that amazing definition is because of those 2 gels working together or because I’m in the beginning stages of the 30 day detox. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Anywho, I will continue and see how my hair feels with it. I do love how my hair looks in terms of definition and shape, but I feel it’s kind of fry looking. Still learning…Still a work in progress! 😀

I thought it was interesting that you used a gel with a mousse.. Are you using 2 holding products, or is the botanical gel less of a gel and serves a different purpose? I started using mousse again after Anthony said that about how mousses dry faster than gel in your video together.. And mousses generally leave my hair feeling drier.. But I would say I'm more likely to use a mousse with no other products while I almost always layer my gels, so I'm sure that makes a difference.

Your hair is beautiful as usual. Personally, I'm all about the shrinkage I never stretch my hair. I've tried the Mousse Def with UFD, and my hair feels ...hmm not dry but spongy... I imagine it's like the bubbles of the foam feel when they dry. IDK it's a different feel, and I'm not fond of it. I think I'll just use it for buns and pin-up styles. My WNG is fine with just UFD alone or a different botanical gel so I'll stick with that. I've also been thinking about trying a WNG with just the foam. I don't plan to try another foam any time soon because I don't like having a lot of different products hanging around. The next foam I want to try is the Curls Avocado foam.

@@LaToyaEbonyHairI went back and looked at your combination of UFD and Hair Rules. You had more definition with the Hair Rules. Both are beautiful.

After the first time I used mousse, I did the mousse over a curling cream so it stays feeling conditioned. Though that has oil...but just thought I'd share. 😅

It was the combination. The product that isn't the Mous def is very drying. Try it by itself.

Hi. Perhaps that you should try to focus on the technique instead of the products. I take the SSC courses to understand better what that mean (i am french). I use henna since 2014 and i had no issus with hydration using products with oils ans butters. But i wanted to give it a try in the futur because i want to finish my products first. So i decide to search what final result i want for my fine strands, medium density. So without doing the detox i styled with à leave in and the design essentiel mousse and i had a better results after several test because of the technique of the definition.

It just looks dry and dull. I bet a bit of oil would give it some sheen and make it look nicer and feel nicer. Or use a more moisturizing leave in conditioner that has some oils in it?

I like the way it turned out! I don’t mind it looking dull. Oil gives an artificial sheen that’s nice and all, but I’m comfortable without it too. I don’t like that it feels dry though.

I have truly superb afro hair however I personally hate wash n go on our 4c hair type. I just do not really feel that our hair type was made for such. My daughter however has mixed hair and her wash and go looks amazing 😇🥰

I think your hair was too drenched with water. You diluted the product applying it the way you did. You should try it on slightly damp not wet hair.
