To people complaining how this is not skilful, or not a sport, you should consider that these are among the best in the world, people who have practised every day for decades, yet they all have some margin for improvement (for example, nobody scored 10.5+ on every shot); this means that it is not like just "throwing a rock", it is not mechanical, and that perfection cannot be achieved, just as in any sport. You could not take their places in this competition without equal years of dedication

@Peterowsky It's a lot harder than it looks. The precision and accuracy displayed by these shooters is incredible. As for why people would devote such time to this, the same could be said about many other sports. I find golf to be boring, but I still respect the skill of professional golfers.

I don't understand any complains on the Shooting sports. This is a sport as any other individual sport as Tennis or lile. Those athletes are great. They're there representing their countries and demonstrating ultimate performance. The comment of how easy is to throw a rock át. ten meters has nothing to do with shooting a 4,5mm pellet into a 11,5 ring at 10 meters.

@HJCoelho It's because they don't know how hard it is to do...It's a really long way from the training to pulling the trigger(i m an athlete in shooting in Greece)...To reach such levels of competition is as hard as to reach the same level at a sport such as 100 m running...PLUS,shooting is a sport that cannot be done by monkeys, dogs, horses etc... (this was my answer to a friend of mine, who's an athlete at 100 m running :P ) by the way,i love all sports...

not trying to be disrespectful, but most people can trow a small rock with that much accuracy, shooting a .177 caliber pistol, powered by compressed air, is not really noteworthy, but for some reson, many people devote a good part of their time to doing exactly that, and hitting the center of a target 10 goddam meters away.
