A lot of people miss this. Saito makes something very clear in Boss. "I cant feel happiness killing people. My own head was wired different but I feel miserable! I want my body back!" See, thing here is Saito's own brain works in the way that now when he is inside a functioning brain like Boss or Iris, he feels miserable killing people to the point he wants to escape back to his own brain cause he can't take it. Its like Pewter said in the annihilation route, killing people is the only way Saito could feel happy. Now he is in a functioning brain and he cannot take the pain of killing others to the point he just wants to get back to his own brain. Saito is so gone, he cannot comprehend how it feels to kill someone in a functioning brain and just wants back in his own head ASAP. He actually does not get that feeling misery is the normal reaction.

This has been a very nice journey with Finana. I saw her brain overheat trying to puzzle the pieces. The genius of this game is that everything fits perfectly. This game still gets me after having seen it like 4 / 5 times, but i do love all the characters. Looking forward to when she plays Nirvana Initiative, for more mindbending dumbness. There is also something to consider. Recall the Somnium where someone was smooching So in a womans outfit? That was Saito's dream. Lots of things to point out: A: He imagined Manaka on So. B: Saito actually can not comprehend love due to his brain disorder. So he may equate love to his father as something more calculative than a feeling of parental love. Love expression is to kiss someone but since he cannot understand love like others do, he thinks loving your parent equates to that kind of love where you kiss someone.

Sooooo, since this is about body switching and Saito was in So, that means in the route of Mizuki, So is still in Iris and in the route of Ota, we found So's remains, meaning at the end of the route, Boss was dead as she got switched to So's body and Saito went in her body. Both of them seem like happy but after the annihilation ending, it shows the routes of Mizuki and Ota actually were no real happy ends. Saito is dead in Mizuki's route cause he was in So and we shot him. But Iris was dead and So in her body. And in Ota's route, Saito is still in Boss and remains a threat who might do the same thing as in the annihilation route.

People need to see the overall aspect of the game. Saito cannot love. Mizuki and Ota's route are all about love. Ota to his mother and fixing things. Mizuki who was abused and neglected finding real family in Date. Losing Iris hits different knowing she is basically Falco's own daughter. Annihilation Route is everyone losing loved ones. This isnt A.I. the Somnium Files. It's literally Ai. The game's true name is: Love: The Somnium Files. It's the entire topic of the game. Even Falco's moment at the very end. He ended up as a greater being. It's his story of redemption and punishment for his past. He found people who love him. He is loved through the connections he made. Something Saito is literally incapable of doing. Saito and Falco are both killers. But Saito cannot love and Falco sought to become a better person due to the love he found in Hitomi and other people he met.

@@csrjjsmp Not necessarily loves to kill. The way Pewter and Aiba explained it, its in the way how his brain is wired and suffering from a disorder is that killing is essentially like a drug to him due to the substances his brain secretes. He is getting the same rush as a drug trip.
