Robert, you had a paid off truck in the Mack, when you finance a truck, Collision and Comprehensive is automatically needed to protect the lien holder of the Truck. The insurance company dropped the ball and the new finance company should've identified this lack of coverage. You were right when you said you miss the freedom of a paid off truck as high insurance is making a lot of owner operators park their truck. In today's economy, you don't want a lot of debt because of uncertainty.

Amur is a weird company over the insurance. I went round and round with them over insurance on a truck I was buying. They required $55000 coverage which wasn’t an issue. But wanted the policy written for 1 year. Now normally not an issue either cause the company I’m leased to has policy written for a year. But the new policy wasn’t due for another 2 months and they aren’t writing a single policy for a year then doing the whole company. I almost walked away then someone called and said they would approve the 2 months remaining so long as I sent the new one in soon as I got it. Honestly I haven’t had any issues from them since. Been just over a year.

Amur is a horrible company! I’m still having issues with them. My truck blew an engine, went to auction. I paid the balance. Amur still put a repo on my credit. So anytime I buy a commercial vehicle. I have to prove it was settled. They refuse to remove it from my credit. 🖕🏻 Amur

Just a thought. Now that you have the truck and what not Maybe go to your bank and see if they will refinance your loan through them. Sometimes they say you have to wait 6 months ect., but at least if you go ask and go through the process you will have an option, and you may be able to do it online like on your 34. But i would have a point of contact to kinda feel things out though. And in this industry options are good.

Depends what you consider good money. Most of them make over 100k/yr. Not if your Mack is parked half the time, but generally they make 100k. That's not a bad wage for one guy, but it's pretty low for a family. I make about 120k a year, and if I depended on an APU unit to keep my living space comfortable, I could definitely plop down $13k for 5+ years of dependable comfort. The ole mack drained them dry I'm thinking. It's too bad.

I live in that area of Kentucky and theres 2 problems. Those roads were all redone for NASCARs benefit for the Ky Motor Speedway. Now that the race us gone, its back to cortuption as usual. 24, 71, and 64 have been "under construction and beautification" for going on 35 years. The contractors come, get rich, then wash and repeat. The answer is very simple, its a cash cow

When I had trucks the insurance on the actual truck was called physical damage and they would use your estimate of the trucks value or the finance amount,if it was paid for they would pay actual cash value,basically what they thought the truck was worth. If the truck is financed you will have to carry full coverage insurance.

Sounds like you have a lot of experience. So do you not want to pay your bills or can't you pay your bills? Bankruptcy is a definite option for folks who are really down financially and have no other options. Like all things when money is involved the lender will to pass on the cost of the debt to future borrowers who pay their loans. But that doesn't' mean anything to some folks as long as they can get over on someone.

Robert, I would also suggest you find out how much an hour of idle time and/ or APU run time equals miles driven. I know that the last 2 police cars I was issued (Crown Vics) we had to calculate 1 hour of idle time being equivalent of 33 miles driven. It doesn't seem like much but it really does affect your true fuel MPG

Robert, sorry about the Insurance crap but when you Deal with Banks and Loans that's the way things go most of the time!! they just can't get it right with each other. Seems like every time I buy a new Vehicle it's a mess!! Calm down it will work out I always call my insurance company and ask them what it's going to cost for the Vehicle before I buy it. I live in western Ky. Yes the roads are awful. I24 is the worst. The reason for the cut outs and filled with concrete is the sinkholes. West Ky is on limestone and there is constant underground erosion. They pour the concrete in slabs to “bridge” the holes. The southern half of I169 the old Pennyrile parkway was completely torn up and rebuilt with I would guess 18-24” reinforced concrete the amount of rebar used was insane. In the state of Washington, those cut out in the concert highway are because the state did not put rebar in the concert and the road base washes out underneath and collapses the concrete highway so they patch it

All of the fuel mileage Nannies that Lenard had on when they ordered the truck might still be on. Like tork limiting by gear and fuel percentage by gear. All can be shut off by dealer and laptop.

Road maintenance is becoming a huge issue for the states. All the revenue is generated from gas tax. Gas tax rate hasn't been raised in decades yet the number of vehicles and fuel efficiency has skyrocketed. More vehicles and less tax generated per vehicle leads to poor roads.

I saw someone suggested you said it’s $50k financed at 25%? I have “bought” 4 semi trucks for people I know. They pay me back monthly at a lot less. I think I could talk “the boss” *wife* into going 18%. If you can’t pay the tractor & trailer are mine. (If trucks value less then balance due). Say you run from Police, all tires wrecked, engine seized…. ;) but if tractor worth at least remaining. I just get tractor. Let me know. Maybe we can meet next time you are in MN, or CO

It’s a shame in many states they put up posts to make it more dangerous to park if pickle park is full. I drive nights. So it’s not a huge concern for me. They needed insurance. *but I allowed when he got hurt, it was parked 2 months insurance could go vacation mode*. Basically if it burned, was vandalized, etc. it was covered. But not allowed, insured on public roads.
