I am very pleased t see a competent interviewer like Indeewari Amuwatte. Also I respect and grateful to this Honourable Finance Minister Mr Ali Sabry who is a real patriotic gentleman. Thank you Sir for your willingness to take this very serious problem head on. I must say all Governments are responsible for this dire situation. But most people are blaming the present Government . Yes they have aggravated the situation. But continuous protests and blocking roads does not help the situation. They are very unhappy as they are short of many basic things. But because there is chaos and unrest foreign governments may call for a travel ban. The result will be no Dollars coming in.

But, politicians have to understand the responsibility and standard they have to maintain when running a ministry. We have to make it a habit to protest if the ministers fail to deliver. So, we can at least make them responsible and accountable for their actions. People in galle face demand the president to go home not because we hate him, but because he failed to deliver. Everyone should understand that head of the state is not an easy day to day job. It entails many responsibilities and they are accountable for our future in the country.Even essential items are hard to find in the country. So, if you fail to deliver expect repercussions.

Firstly I don't know if anyone would even see this. However, I am greatly to see that someone in power is speaking with clarity, and level-headedness and not in a political capacity but in an accountable manner. I wish you all the very best Sir. In terms of the youth and people of the country. Please understand people are angry for the past 3 years or so the lives of the youth in the country was brought to a halt due to several reasons. All people want in a basic sense is for the President and people in power to speak accountability, trustfulness and take put reasonability. Show the people change, gain our trust, and bring about complete reform. The times of the past are over. The new generation isn't lazy, we are well-educated thanks to the efforts of the generation before us. We are ready to work, cooperate and build but you need to provide us with a proper platform, and opportunity and move away from the old way and tailor the country to the future. In summary, people want the corrupt, outdated people in power to be transparent and held accountably and just to take place. Finally for the political structure to change and introduce fresh blood, ideas and thought even with the guidance of well-experienced minds. We understand all people can't be made happy. All we want is accountability, trust, and transparency. However, can you expect a country to use proper means, pay taxes and disclose wealth when even the leaders don't? Either thank you Sir for being professional. I am not the most politically knowledgable or active. I am just concerned about my country and my family thereby deciding to educate myself to better prepare for the full and help and protect how I could. I am thankful that at least now it seems transparent and decisive actions are being taken. That’s a very honourable and honest discussion giving true facts to be up front with people. The way Indeewari conducted the interview was commendable giving enough time to put across the answer without interruptions something Chamuditha can learn from. Regarding tax evasions, it’s a national fraud that has to be addressed. If I add to that its not an understatement if I say all the property transactions in Sri Lanka done at a lower value by lawyers and notary publics to reduce stamp duty without any benefit to them with detrimental effects to the economy. That’s something does not happen in developed countries. Get rid of unwarranted benefits of the rich like car permits for them to sell at inflated value to make fraudulent money.

Excellent Sir, your presentation, interpretation of the situation and the possible ways out of the crisis is fantastic. We as Sri Lankan's have finally found a smart Finance Minister who can speak to the local/international media and go for a negotiation with multilateral/bilateral agencies. This is what the Head of the State should have done two years ago and not rely on his own family, he did not do and sadly the country suffered. Please ensure that the so called four officials who wanted a home grown solution and ill advised the government, not go scot free. They must be adequately punished to ensure history doesn't repeat. At least now we can have some hope, may be beyond the immediate future that can be extremely painful!

With all due respect to the Finance Minister, to evade futures disasters develop a transparent system presenting every quarter of the year the Balance Sheet and publishing in the newspapers not supporting only the government, but also in other honest transparent newspapers! ( to gain confidence of the people) If this was the case,this situation would have not come up! Major projects funded by investing countries like China should be presented how the funds are spent to the cent! This is the righteous way!! It is unthinkable how there were no economists who advised the government or if did, was there no say !? Why the opposition didn’t request to see the finances too!? Glad to see the Prez Gota had appointed you as the Finance Minister at this juncture and able to be transparent with him for the good of the country! In calamity, glad you stood to the task! Personally I do not like this man for some of the things he has done as the Justice Minister for eg. The Kangaroo Court he setup to dismiss all the cases of his party members. Leaving that a side, he has taken over tough job, it is a bloody and dirty job at this point in time. Sri Lanka has to increase the agricultural value creation. List out all the basic agri commodites for consumption as it has huge land mass start encouraging the farmers to cultivate. Immediately do the import substution of Agriculture import commodities. All puluses,vegetables, rice ,wheat ,sugarcane has to be cultivated. SAVE HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY SPEND ON IMPORTING THE AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES. ONE SEED CAN CREATE HUGE OUT PUT VALUE. MAKE SURE ANY FUTURE DEVELOPMENT IS PLANNED WITH THE AIM OF IMPORT SUBSTITUTION AND EXPORT SURPLUS FROM AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS. LOOK UPON REAL VALUE ADDITION TO THE ECONOMY. He is doing a terrible job trying to sugar-coat the situation. There are no complex legal issues. Gothabaya Rajapaksa can simply tender his resignation -- and so can Mahinda Rajapaksa. President Nixon in 1975 did exactly that. Their resignation is the first step in a national re-constructive effort. Mr. Salbry also is simply trying to keep his job -- and demonstrating his lack of integrity. They are all banking on the IMF to rescue from the bankruptcy -- so that they can keep their jobs. It won't happen. IMF (with a strong US/Western influence) will not bail-out the Rajapaksas. At best the IMF will only provide minimal emergency funds to ensure that we will not end up with mass starvation.
