This video is very clear and simple to understand without affectations. Thank you! Is there somewhere to find the handouts to download anymore?

I went to that website to print off the financial ratios, no luck with it, but I do appreciate the video, it did help.

If you would have invested in Pepsi when this video came out (June 2012) and held until now (Jan 2022) which is almost 10 years later, you would be up 2.5x not counting dividends. This is also not counting any money you might have made on writing CCs.

Surely the inventory ratio says more about the inventory costs of the company, even if two companies use the same warehouse they might have different capital costs.

Mr. Bracker, suppose we want to analyze financial ratios on Pepsi again, but we're in the middle of the fiscal year, say, August 2019. Should I calculate by 1) using end of fiscal year data (previous/available), 2) use an average of beginning + ending figures, or 3) add up each line item from the last four quarters (ttm?)? Should it matter, especially when calculating ROE and expected sustainable growth?

There is not a "correct" answer to this. The main thing is that you are consistent and think about the implications of what you are doing. In class, I really stress that financial statement analysis is much more difficult than most textbooks make it seem because we need to understand what is driving the numbers (the context) and not just the numbers themselves. Ideally, you are combining the ratios with understanding the latest 10Q and/or 10K, industry/firm trends, regulatory environment, economic environment, management philosophy, demographics, etc.

@@kevinbracker So on that note, would today's financial websites suffice? Morningstar actually has YTM and ttm numbers for all financial statements and key ratios, so I guess the work is done for you. Or calculate numbers the old-fashioned way by getting financial statements straight from the company website, which can be time consuming.
