I have been a licensed water and wastewater operator in 3 states in the USA. I can tell you from my perspective that you are better off letting the government handle the maintenance through taxation. I am forbidden by law, to explain some of the terrible things that I was forced to do to you as a private water and wastewater employee. As a state employee, I couldn't complain about anything but fluoride and management. Private water companies have private interests. Community water companies have community interests. Just so you are aware, no one does wastewater properly. You should really be paying more attention to wastewater effluent. Operators that sample are expected to pass, no matter 'what'. There is a lot of 'what' going on in wastewater.

@HaveAGreatDay54
@HaveAGreatDay54 Күн бұрын
@@jackstiles458 No. Gray water Has no fecal contamination and is considered safe to dilute in stream water in some cases. In my opinion it is not safe. It should be kept in check as well. I am referring to wastewater, as a whole, that is treated in wastewater plants then the treated water is placed back into a body of water for reuse. The effluent that comes out of these plants is NOT clean. Sampling is required to maintain a low level of bacteria. The operators that get paid by the plant owners are the legal samplers. Imagine it being a lot like internal affairs for police. Most people seem to have no idea that their wastewater is recycled in this way. That is by design.

When you set a price tag and compartmentalize human life and all aspects of it for efficiency you will hit a snag; even if you were to rely on a quantum computer intelligence to sustain it. It's called chaos theory. Commercializing the most basic needs of water, food, shelter, & playing games with reproduction is a failure of leadership & integrity of community. Bubbles don't prevent stand alone conditions. The majority are riding a system not driving it as well. Individualistic momentary greed is an antithesis to the human condition.

It is not finanially feasible because it is not very prevalent. Once all the major sources of drinking water are exhausted and global warming caused less rain and snow, then all nations will turn to desalination. The sooner we start, the more prepared we will be. We've recently seen a flash of inflation. The strain on this supply could send prices on everything skyrocketing. I lived in the western US, Colorado, for 24 yrs. Water supply comes from the Rockies. A large amount of the SDS is sent to other western states. As with Colorado, drought in the west results in terrible forest fires. Living in the midwest for 39 yrs. I hadn't experienced fire there. When you see it up close it is scary.

Great documentary. Anyone with a brain will say water is a human right. However, I think one key point missed here is there has to be a way to incentivize farmers to move towards products that are less water intensive to conserve the resources already there... Raising cattle in one of the most arid places on Earth is arguably one of the biggest ways possible to waste water. Raising cattle for beef requires something insane like 15k-20k liters of water PER KILOGRAM. Pricing cattle farmers accordingly is an effective, albeit cruel way of reining that in. But there has to be some kind of mechanism in place to cut back on wasteful usage.

Bullshit im 50 and growing up in north Philly everybody's parents scolded us about not only long showers but running that hot water too long and god forbid you leave a faucet dripping there would be hell to pay.! We didn't play with our parents water bill or any other bill

its price changes daily depending on supply and demand well on the demand side i think every human being and virtually every animal and crop we eat needs water so demand is sorted now how we do work out SUPPLY? rainwater harvesting and switching away from grass thatched structures especially for folks in rural sub-Saharan Africa. it will reduce on nomadism greatly and help people settle.

There are things that shouldn't be privatised and utilities should at least have public ownership (say a significant enough stake for the government at least to be able to send directors to the board and over see governance) It's common knowledge utilities pay good dividends it might as well go back to the coffers Or at least the government can dictate the dividend policy and mandate certain proportion of profits be reinvested back into the infrastructure before dividends

I find it a bit sickly that the finance people somehow keep equating what they are doing with being good for humanity, after the obvious instant reply of PROFITS... Kind of like saying, we will save you but you need to pay us millions for it and if you are poor and can't keep up with the fluctuating market then you can go without. Yes, we have to value water as the most precious resource we have but how do we prevent exploitation and ensure access to all when it's completely monitised? This is very concerning.

People tend to appreciate things more if they pay for it. Water waste is a crime. We do not need to wash our cars every weekend or have a swimming pool. Water should also be allocated to need and certain water intense industries need to be limited and managed better to avoid waste. But I'm no expert.

I've noticed that the most fascistic countries tend to be colonies. Abundance being the thing of the past doesn't mean, you should make money off of shortages.

When GS says privatization, they mean total control by them backed by govt law and force.

you can not work with a business mind thinking you are going to stop those seeking of privatizing water. You have to come with another sort of mind in order to properly oppose the situation and it damn sure is not artificial intelligence.

Market pricing would only properly work if every single user who used the purchase, was also an equal member (in proportion to the units purchased ) of the market body that manages the transaction. That is the incentive to use water more efficiently, what is described in the video is a terribly flawed system, messing with water rights, why weren’t reservoirs and wells prepared, to claim a right to profit due to inadvertence! The best one can hope for is a decent yield on related investments.
