I love this ❤ my mother has said many times that my life was wasted because I never become something of importance. But I adopted two babies, raised them into beautiful adults, helped those who mourn and still do, and today I watch my grandchild full time. But I can’t look at myself in the mirror without disgust at my failings. It’s amazing, this power of a mother’s words. Has made me careful what I say to my kids.

I wonder why mothers hurt us so. One minute telling us we can be or do anything we want and the next telling us to either go for the big career with big money or marry a rich man and make babies. I did neither. This world is in desperate need of kindness. I make a concerted effort to be in the right frame of mind every time I leave the house. To make eye contact and genuinely smile at as many people as possible. To remain calm in traffic and tell myself that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be. It has become easier to be me. I used to stay in a state of anxiety, irritation and trepidation. I wanted to be of service to other people but I had to help myself first. I had to learn to be kinder to me, it is a struggle everyday that I believe is the main lesson most of us need to learn. My hope is that if I can kill the bully in my head with kindness then I can help others accept and project kindness as well. It seems that there’s not a day that goes by where some awful event that happened somewhere in the world isn’t brought into the light. I genuinely feel sadness and ache for the travesty that seems to permeate mankind. There’s a record playing on repeat in my psyche that I’m too sensitive and too high strung. That I should stop caring so much about the terrible things other people do. Guess where that came from. This was another excellent film. This woman sharing her internal struggles helps people like me feel less alone and less damaged. Thank you.

This resonated with me so much. The idea that if every person actually took the time to properly care for themselves, they would inflict so much less damage on the world. And for every one of us who openly, unapologetically takes care of ourselves and proves it does not have to make one selfish, we model that for those who aren't convinced. We have been taught to give so much of ourselves to others, and sharing and caring are wonderful parts of being human, but having compassion for myself first has really helped me grow.

At the very first sentence I found myself paralyzed, feeling a strange sensation of knowing exactly what she was talking about....."looking the other person straight in the eyes for a long time"...... . That was what I did a few times when the time came for my father to "go away to the other unknown side".....that time was approaching and I felt, one day, that I had to stop everything right then and there, and I felt a strange and infinite desire to sit in front of him and stare deeply into his eyes....that's what I did! I knelt down right in front of my father, who was sitting on the couch and, without saying anything (it wasn't necessary to say anything) we stared into each other's eyes understanding that moment....the farewell had begun.....a tear or two rolled down our faces.....at that moment, I felt the deepest connection with him, everything was forgiven, all the understanding of us being father and daughter was understood! I see myself in Mrs. Annie Lighthart...even physically, if I dye my white hair, I see myself looking like her... I have the same feelings, I experienced situations with my mother very similar to what she heard from her mother...and that has stayed with me to this day! The washer is a perfect symbol of this feeling...I felt this connection...maybe I will also start looking for washers...to remind myself that I am a complete being, to remind me to look around me trying to fill the void that exists right in the center... Thank you again, Michael and Justine, for this testimony! I think this was the testimony that filled me the most with tenderness and understanding about myself and about being here..... I also send my thanks to Mrs. Annie Lighthart!

What a beautiful person, what a beautiful story. Annie, I want you to know that the reason your mother said these things to you is really because this is how she felt about HERSELF. She projected her feelings about herself, about the world onto you. I am very sorry. Unfortunately, we don't go to school to learn how to be parents. We, ordinary, flawed people, become parents and our children are our guinea pigs and many of us make many, many mistakes. Sometimes, we, the parents don't figure out anything our entire lives. Other times, we figure things out, but after we already hurt our children. Why? Because we were hurting ourselves, because we didn't like our lives, because we didn't know any better, because we were too focused on just trying to survive. Regardless, of what your mother said and did, this never defined who you really are. You are love and beauty itself. You are beautiful. You always were beautiful and always will be beautiful. Inside and outside. As for your mom, let the hurt go, release it. She really had no idea what she was doing. She may never know. Let it go. Break yourself free of these chains. Know that you have intrinsic value and worth regardless of what anyone says, be it your parent, your teacher, your spouse, anyone. You have value and meaning because you are. ........ I went through a period in my life when I was trying to learn that I was loved. Back then, everywhere I went, I saw hearts. On the asphalt road, a dark spot would form in a shape of heart. I would find heart-shaped leaves and rocks. One day even my egg sizzled in my frying pan in a shape of a heart. The messages of love poured in, over and over, everywhere. I took photos of these messages and still have them.... But, the best thing was a cat I raised from day one. He loved me unconditionally. It didn't matter to him what I looked like, what I said, who I was. He just loved me, just because. He used to curl up on my neck and then chest.... That was his purpose to teach me that I am Love, lovable and worthy. I learned my lesson. Thank you.

That Mother was the dark queen (of hearts) from Alice in Wonderland… and such energies in our lives bring us self challenge and deep work. Renowned behaviourist Chase Hughes suggests that “we see suffering first”. This has increased my compassion and I apply this to every person ~ especially when I can’t make sense of human behaviour. As to the washer…a dear elderly friend who lost a 4 year old son said that it changed her so she had become something totally different. No longer a bowl that could hold things and be fulfilled, but a colander with holes and she had to learn how to be a colander and serve her life and world in this way.

That was just so heart touching. You are beauty itself, whether you see beauty, beauty is felt not seen. Every word you spoke, your smile, was felt. Beauty finds you, thank you ❤

Her book is called Pax , it means Peace in Latin. Rosebuds develope into roses . I love her poem and her cat is quite a character . The world is beautiful no matter what . Love the world and wash out the hate. My mother was similar person to this ladies mother. I dont look in mirrors and there are not many photos of me . Maybe i will get over it . I lived along time with it . And it as not truly affected me . I have success in my life but no photos . But there are no photos of Jesus . So i am in good company . I gave up on problems . People get them . Its not a perfect world . Thank you for this video.

At one point, she reminded me of Emily Dickinson (her poem: "Not in Vain"). From this film, quite a many treasures to hold on to!! But, I love to hold on to, "I think, she's pretty" with all its possible/unsaid dimensions!! Can't thank you enough for gifting all these beautiful films!! Many thanks, Annie, for sharing your beautiful words!! Love. Hugs.

As a woman now in her 60's who also grew up never hearing she was pretty or smart, only negative remarks from a mother who didn't love herself...I want to tell you how beautiful you truly are, not just on the outside but that soul of yours shines brightly. I'm the chain-breaker of the generational traumas in my family and I raised my own daughter with praise since she entered this world, but not just of her beauty but her brilliance, her humor, and her loving personality as well. This was a wonderful video, thank you for sharing your story. ❤❤❤

Life 'is' beautiful when you look without running language in your mind; just to look in complete silence; Not the kind of man-made artificial silence, but the silence that naturally falls over your soul when LOVE is presence because you took the time, to "LOOK."

There is a wonderful solution in the Quran, “beautiful forgiveness.” It teaches you how to truly forgive without reproach or complaint, that is, how to discipline those who hurt you with love. This principle does not only make you do good, but it also gives you the power of deep inner peace that is difficult to explain. I advise you to prostrate and say (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High). Repeat that and you will notice and tell me about the beautiful feeling you will feel from God. It is divine providence.

Just beautiful ❤. It’s a huge comfort to know there are people like this lady in the world. Her warmth and kindness are what the world needs right now. I often feel less of a person because of my upbringing and the hole where loving parents should have been follows me around. I often see washers on the floor and I sometimes pick them up. I’ll never forget their symbolism now. That’s a huge gift. Many thanks and all the very best to you ❤

Thank you Annie , Justine & Michael ! Relaxing , loving and deep ! Magical washers ,one solid ring separates same space into 2 inner and outer. Our bodies are like those washers . When our "solid ring" perish the inner space morph to outer space thus 2 become one. ... HPL to ALL !

I sure am glad Annie said it about eye gazing. How grateful I feel for the quality in which I have seen and beheld others in this way. For what is life, but to discover we dwell in - one another's eyes - . Thank you Annie for your gentleness, paths of discovery, poetry in motion and ways of seeing beauty that looks right back at you in truly seeing. Belovedness to You. ❤️🌹 Thank you Reflections of Life for bringing the essence of humanity - blossoming in its ripening.
