Gotta add a personal note here. I’m a family father and my gaming time is limited. But I keep statistics on my runs! I play hammerdin, and started out poor, online. To get high runes for my dream items (Enigma, of course, but also Hoto, CtA) I decided to go cows. I deemed it the best spot to kill as much as quickly as possible. I played solo and killed every cow. In 395 runs I got Lo, Cham, Cham, Ber, Lo and Sur. For that I could with HRs from before create Hoto and CtA, and trade for a Jah for the holy grail Enigma. After that my dream was true. So I decided to start boss runs to get my dream uniques. I do Andy, Trav, Meph, Diablo and Baal. I kill a lot of creep in sanctuary and (if good enemies roll) in Worldstone keep, to at least try and increase chances from runes as well. So far I have done almost 200 ”complete” runs. And how many high runes from that? ZERO. I can only conclude that, at least if you purely are looking for hogh runes, that Cow level is one of the best options.

Had D2R made it easier? I never counted my runs but like 10-15 years ago when I played D2 LOD I would say that average income from cows when solo is like gul to vex per 400 runs.

I had bad luck? ~200 Cow runs 5players and got only jah there. I prefer Travi where I found 2xlo vex cham sur and some lower like guls and ists in 300 games (one in every 40-50sec with hork)

Also, don't skip over white skeletons in the pits. They have one of the best chances for your unique ring to actually be good.

*Tip* Dont use any cold damage on your Barb and Merc (no Fortitude) especially for Travincal so you can use Find item without an issue. I would say fallen camps in Pits level 1 have been very profitable for HRs, even on P1

100% I need to change my merc up. I still get gold but I probably lose 20% of the council horks to freeze pops. Was also thinking I'd go with a Grief/6 Lem Phase Blade + full gf set up instead of just leaping. Need to get a Cham-Lem IK helm. I feel like it needs to be a 40% IK helm or it's not justifiable to use a high rune.

Certain builds are very profitable for LK runs in terms of ... everything. A Hammerdin can quickly pop chests (especially if you have tele, can use Vigor) and many times the profitable stuff comes from the logs, skeles, chests, buckets, all the poppables. A Hammerdin can literally stop and spam a hammer field on p7/8 and grind xp well up to the early 90's. My Hammerdin actually found my 1st d2r HoZ off a skele in LK for example ... and you can farm the chests with pretty low risk because you don't actually have to kill anything if you don't want to.

sorceress is by far the best class for lk runs, faster teleport and the use of telekinesis, as well as cold spells to freeze enemies so you don't die early ladder when your gear is trash

I farm the halls in A5 because of the density and the quill rats with a CE Necro in 8 player pub games. Found cham, perfect hoz, tons of unique jewelry and other good stuff. It's so dense

Thanks for the video. Got my first ever Jah from devilkin during a Countess run. Sat there in disbelief. Also have gotten a Lo from Meph Chest. And a Gul, Ohm, Lo, from 1k kurast runs. But to get those Ber's, you really need to put in some work...

even with few friends online, we did some sick runns as 3 friends. Joining the game, One kills Pindle/Eldrich, One checks LK-chests and One kills Trav. then when its cool, you can go on with: one kills Meph, One kills Andy, one makes Cow Portal, then we killed Cows and if you want you can go 3 players CS or Baal too, but this does take at least the time u could run another including Andy Meph Cow´s, so it depends, but it sure is fun and 3player drops are good and finding 3 players is totaly viable so is killing Bosses on players 3 with crap-gear, infact Trav players 3 is the hardest in my opinion. ...well sometimes Pindle can be a duckhead too

Typically looking for a circular map, campfires on tiles at each side of wp. With 200fcr you'll hit 15sec avg runs, possible with 120 as well. Requires you to go to a4 tho so see if you can get low load times as has been mentioned. Chances from LK are something like Ber (value) pr 700 runs if I remember correctly.

Even a 50% increase on Trav with Find Item is massive at P5/7. Also Grushes about to be slightly less profitable due to A3 Khalim changes.

I expect a lot of people to move over to C-rushing because of this. The real question is if there will be a level req on the new act 3 blocks. If there is, that will be a meta shake up greater than any balance changes.

I have a map of double campfire LK and a great RoF with 2 super chests next to wp so i just do LK, tp back to wp > go RoF super chests Save and Exit, Repeat. I get 8 chests that way, and i don't need to run through act 3 camp. Its about as fast overall but again you get 8 chests. Funny thing though RoF super chests have given me a Sur and a Lo while at the same time im only getting Um runes from LK. RNG be RNG. Great vid!

For barb item finders you should have mentioned NOT to use Lawbringer and alike weapons with the "rest in peace" feature, and for switch weapons use a pair of Heart Carvers. Even without a single base point into item find skill I've been able to "squeeze" Ist and Gul out of dead cows with these two daggers.

No luck with lower kurast yet. I've found a ber from a unique mob in ancient tunnels, and a mal recently from lister on hell. Found a couple puls in cows, but no real luck so far. Currently at about 550 hrs of playtime. No ist, gul, vex, sur The northern temple in the kurast causeway (lvl 85) will sometimes spawn a room with 10-15 rock piles which I've found to be decent for runes.

Great video, though I am confused why you left out Worldstone Keep + Baal. My luckiest rune drops have been cows, 1 Jah 1 Ber, few Lo's, Ohm's and a Cham across 15 yrs of playing. However, recently I've found a Ber + Jah and quite a few high runes from WSK. A well geared Javazon shreds this zone and there is a huge mob variation and lot's of density. Also giga xp.

Yeah confused why he left out WSK here. Mob density is bonkers and they all drop the goods. It's tough to bring a sub-par geared Java in there with the wisps being light immune, but once you have the gear to run WSK its a banger.

I did thousands of LK runs (until I got an Infinity), and I found a ton of good small and grand charms, a ton of bases, and I made 7 or 8 perfect Spirits (in terms of fcr), 2 of them in 40+ all res paladin shields. So yes, LK is a place where you can get a lot of good stuff besides HR's. However, it can be very frustrating, specially when you are in a dry spell and spend 10 hours farming without seeing any rune better than a Ko. It happens

Chaos is the number one spot. Highest frequency and consistency of drops coupled with finger mages and monster density. Cows are number 2 cause you can slam cows pretty quickly. Lower kurast is the lowest overall payout. I’ve played this game for almost 20 years lol

#1 is true, for multiplayer, join a baal series or cow series and its sometimes frowned on but smart players will always check real quick at the start then hop in for the run.

What about sewers lvl 2? Sometimes it’s hard to compete for LK in multiplayer games, but sewers lvl 2 have some super chests too, is it viable? Also with lots of fast cast, it’s not hard to find the exit to lvl 2

Problem with seal popping in hell mode is the immunities…no char that can do it without either infinity (break immunes for sorc) or enigma (teleport for pally). So you need those runes in order to find them.

Thank you for your advises! They're very useful! I did 300 runs to travincal by paladin - hammerdin for 3 days, and i got Gul rune from Counsul. Also I did 20 runs by Foh paladin to Chaos Sanctuary, and I got Ist rune from normal Knight of Chaos. You're right Lower Kurast is too boring work but I don't know when i will get the high run. I play in single game and my goal is "Enigma" for paladin, barbarian and necromancer. How many hours a day should i spend in Lower Kurast to get high runes? Or will i go to Countess because it's faster then LK but it's not a guarantee to get high rune?

My personal method was to farm socketed whites for trade on the usual third party sites for runes. Let me tell you, I can find socketed eth cryptic axes way faster than I can find the runes needed for enigma.

I found 2 bers and an ohm in chaos sanctuary, 1 ber in cows. Lately I've been doing worldstone keep and kill baal with my summon necro. The monster density in worldstone keep is insane and theres about 20 elites/unique monsters to baal. Theres ghosts too, and it gives exp.

I've gotten multiple of every rune up to cham doing trav runs on bnet in solo games. To me it's by far the most reliable farm if your playing in solo games. If you have the ability to manipulate the player count and can clear areas like cows or chaos fast I think those are better.

@@scottydoesntknow88 Congrats! Yeah trav is the way to go in my book. I started playing offline to start a grail a few days ago so it was my first time being able to manipulate the player count. I did about 5 hours of P8 LK and got a lem rune and nothing else of note. I switched to my bnet strategy and went to trav today and in about 5 hours netted a Lo, Gul, 2x um and a pul along with a bunch of other goodies. I was able to cube what I had and make a hoto and a grief. I can't see myself ever sitting down again for an LK farm session. I know LK will eventually drop a ber or sur but so will trav.

Just last week in a span of 5hrs playtime, got Jah, Vex, Gul, Sur, and Ist. All from travincal except for the Jah which dropped from the councils near meph. That's the most hi runes I got in one sitting in 5yrs of playing. And yesterday got a Ber from travincal. Not flexin but I'd definitely recommend travincal.

Definition of frustration: go do the forge in hell and receive a Hel rune, then go to the countess at the same game (hell) and receive a El and Eld runes as drops… it happened with my Sorc… very angry with that…

If doing LK runs, you should go to act 4. You dont have to run through the town and you can use the waypoint with telekinesis. Invest time to find a map where you have two campfires directly by the waypoint (takes an hour or so). Then you have a circle path, which make things a lot faster.

Actually in D2R this is not true. In D2, where the loading time was not a factor, ur method was really better, but in resurrected, the loading times are way longer, especially between different Acts. The fastest way is the Harmony running from Act3 and quit/restart immediately after opening the last chest.

@@bankhazjoms1837 This depends on hardware. I have probably very good HDD with cache or something, but I have couple of seconds between acts. So I always warriving and doing pando for a3 farming, that's super fast. I thought that depends on GPU, but looks like it's not a bottleneck.

@@mapron1 In D2R the engine sitting underneath the game is the bottleneck. Even if you had infinite computing power, the game wouldn't load faster than on a decent laptop. Some streamers literally play on a server with 8 CPUs, 512 GB DDR5-8702 RAM, 4 RTX3090 and ultra-fast PCIe SSDs and the loading time is the same as on my 800$ Laptop.

Ya as everyone says just depends on how it runs. For me and most people the load times are too high. If you can get low load times then going back to A4 is best!

I actually found a ber rune in a single player mf run on bnet in LK. I usually switch some areas up during the runs to keep it interesting, but I always check the chests here in any mf run, as they can also drop skillers and it's really fast and easy to check them.

If you include player trades like Grushing then you might as well include flipping items which if you're good at it will be by far the most effective way to get high runes.

Have been playing since launch and still have yet to find a high rune. Lost count on how many cows, travincal and lower kurast runs I’ve done, but it is well in the thousands. I’m officially throwing in the towel and calling it quits for good. Thank you MrLlama for all the guides and amazing content to help me get through this amazing game. Your videos were extremely helpful and I even have a notepad full of notes that I took while watching them but the RNG is seriously starting to take a toll on my sanity and mental health. I did single player LK runs with a cold sorc for a while and included the sewers since those were close by. I'm pretty sure this was on Hell and at least P4. I had very poor luck finding runes probably because I'm too slow and I get bored too easily 😂 I don't think I made it to 100 runs in all before giving up.

You should emphasize the importance of racks. I found a Mat. Javelin rack in the building with the single super chest in my LK. If I run up from exactly the front and there are no monsters around it always drops a Mat. Javelin. I have found 2 Thunderstrokes in 2 days . Wish I could find a ceremonial javelin rack. I need some Titans now.

I'm surprised City of the Damned isn't on the list. I thought that was a great place to farm HRs. Here is where i've found HRs Pits : 2x Ohm Trav: 2x Lo Cows: Ber - Jah - Ohm Baal minions: Sur And ofc i've been getting anything under Vex on a regular basis. Countess is the best early on due to the high drop chance + key chance imo. Selling keys is great for getting items. I've not found hrs in LK myself, but i've seen barbs doing trav/LK in public baalruns.

I like farming Hell Arcane Sanc on my lvl 95 Orb Sorc. You take pathways and kill all the groups of 4+ packs of Ghosts to get rune drops, sometimes high, and open the 3-4 chests until you find pathway that has Summoner. Kill him and collect Keys of Hate, which u can trade 1:1 for other keys usually. after killing summoner, make ng, repeat You get TONS of Charms and Jewelry and Runes drom this as well as keys...if ya got MF, then ya get alot of unique and rare ammys rings too

Can I do LK runs while people are doing, let's say, cows, and benefit from the additional drop rate of multiplayer? Or do people need to be in the same map to increase the drop rate?

I just got my first Ber Rune from an elite fallen pack in the countess tower a few days a go! Oh and did Blizz stealth nerf key drops? I haven't gotten 0 keys since last patch 😢

before watching, i can say something "surprising" - wonder if I will "guess" Durance of hate 2 and 3. Basically farming meph... but opening all the chests (there are SO many chests in durance level 2, and a bunch in 3) on the way and killing the Bremm and his pack. There's also the obvious arcane sanctuary, but might still surprise somebody?

zerker barbarian can clear the seals the most efficient: teleport as fast as a sorc, howl so trash mobs flee from you and then 1v1 the seal boss in just a couple of bezerk hits.

That drop trick in Chaos is so helpful, killing those immunes is such a waste of time.

Grushing has been my way to riches in d2r got the equivalent of 20 ber runes and I stopped playing in December. The issue is you need to use d2jsp or some other external trade site to not get scammed and you need a strong char that is fast on p8. I dont know why you think its annoying though for meits like speedrunning - i mean yea my char is fully decked but I have to beat the game on all 3 difficulties on p8 as fast as possible i really enjoy it I Also found high runes while grushing, got a jah, ohm and a vex - in the end you spend one 20 min of the the grushing in hell and kill stuff on p8
