Gotta add a personal note here. I’m a family father and my gaming time is limited. But I keep statistics on my runs! I play hammerdin, and started out poor, online. To get high runes for my dream items (Enigma, of course, but also Hoto, CtA) I decided to go cows. I deemed it the best spot to kill as much as quickly as possible. I played solo and killed every cow. In 395 runs I got Lo, Cham, Cham, Ber, Lo and Sur. For that I could with HRs from before create Hoto and CtA, and trade for a Jah for the holy grail Enigma. After that my dream was true. So I decided to start boss runs to get my dream uniques. I do Andy, Trav, Meph, Diablo and Baal. I kill a lot of creep in sanctuary and (if good enemies roll) in Worldstone keep, to at least try and increase chances from runes as well. So far I have done almost 200 ”complete” runs. And how many high runes from that? ZERO. I can only conclude that, at least if you purely are looking for hogh runes, that Cow level is one of the best options.

I had bad luck? ~200 Cow runs 5players and got only jah there. I prefer Travi where I found 2xlo vex cham sur and some lower like guls and ists in 300 games (one in every 40-50sec with hork)

*Tip* Dont use any cold damage on your Barb and Merc (no Fortitude) especially for Travincal so you can use Find item without an issue. I would say fallen camps in Pits level 1 have been very profitable for HRs, even on P1

100% I need to change my merc up. I still get gold but I probably lose 20% of the council horks to freeze pops. Was also thinking I'd go with a Grief/6 Lem Phase Blade + full gf set up instead of just leaping. Need to get a Cham-Lem IK helm. I feel like it needs to be a 40% IK helm or it's not justifiable to use a high rune.

Just to illustrate, if you have a javazon spamming 1-2 fury and clearing screens of trash mobs on player 3 versus taking way longer for just a few extra drops. At player 3 or 4, almost every mob drops something.

I did thousands of LK runs (until I got an Infinity), and I found a ton of good small and grand charms, a ton of bases, and I made 7 or 8 perfect Spirits (in terms of fcr), 2 of them in 40+ all res paladin shields. So yes, LK is a place where you can get a lot of good stuff besides HR's. However, it can be very frustrating, specially when you are in a dry spell and spend 10 hours farming without seeing any rune better than a Ko. It happens

Chaos is the number one spot. Highest frequency and consistency of drops coupled with finger mages and monster density. Cows are number 2 cause you can slam cows pretty quickly. Lower kurast is the lowest overall payout. I’ve played this game for almost 20 years lol

Certain builds are very profitable for LK runs in terms of ... everything. A Hammerdin can quickly pop chests (especially if you have tele, can use Vigor) and many times the profitable stuff comes from the logs, skeles, chests, buckets, all the poppables. A Hammerdin can literally stop and spam a hammer field on p7/8 and grind xp well up to the early 90's. My Hammerdin actually found my 1st d2r HoZ off a skele in LK for example ... and you can farm the chests with pretty low risk because you don't actually have to kill anything if you don't want to.

sorceress is by far the best class for lk runs, faster teleport and the use of telekinesis, as well as cold spells to freeze enemies so you don't die early ladder when your gear is trash

even with few friends online, we did some sick runns as 3 friends. Joining the game, One kills Pindle/Eldrich, One checks LK-chests and One kills Trav. then when its cool, you can go on with: one kills Meph, One kills Andy, one makes Cow Portal, then we killed Cows and if you want you can go 3 players CS or Baal too, but this does take at least the time u could run another including Andy Meph Cow´s, so it depends, but it sure is fun and 3player drops are good and finding 3 players is totaly viable so is killing Bosses on players 3 with crap-gear, infact Trav players 3 is the hardest in my opinion. ...well sometimes Pindle can be a duckhead too

No luck with lower kurast yet. I've found a ber from a unique mob in ancient tunnels, and a mal recently from lister on hell. Found a couple puls in cows, but no real luck so far. Currently at about 550 hrs of playtime. No ist, gul, vex, sur The northern temple in the kurast causeway (lvl 85) will sometimes spawn a room with 10-15 rock piles which I've found to be decent for runes.

For barb item finders you should have mentioned NOT to use Lawbringer and alike weapons with the "rest in peace" feature, and for switch weapons use a pair of Heart Carvers. Even without a single base point into item find skill I've been able to "squeeze" Ist and Gul out of dead cows with these two daggers.

If you look up Ber in Silos and do some math you can work out that 1 ghost = 2 cows = 3 regular mobs. so by timing yourself out you can see just how many ghosts/cows/regular mobs per minute you can kill and that will give you an idea how good your spot is. Personally I run AS till I find the summoner, then head into the Tal's Tombs to pick off all the little skellies; remember 3 = 1 so if I wipe out a pack of 20 skellies its the same as a 6 pack of ghosts elsewhere, and there are WAY more skelly packs in tombs, as well as ghosts. Act 2 sucks to respawn in, so I do a quick tower run to finish the circuit.

@@eqbrim not at all, OP is acting like if you have a mob with 1:50k odds and 6 mobs 1:300k odds, killing either is the same, which isn't how probability works. They are right about timing your mobs per minute but personally I put these values along with drop probability in a probability calculator along with how many of each mob I kill per minute and I can look at true probability. Essentially barb at Trav is supreme, java at cows is 2nd given my personal times/calcs. Now given all the math I've still gotten 90% of my highrunes from either LK or chaos playing singleplayer

@@Frostbytedigital I plugged it into a calculator: for Ber ghosts are 1:356k, regular mobs are 1:1.1m. if you plug in 900 regular mob kills the prob of a hit is .000842 if you kill 300 ghosts the prob of a hit is .000821. They aren't equivalent but for a general rule the 1-2-3 works out. Ghost: 1 - (1 - 2.807860887340198e-6)^300 = 0.000842 Trash: 1 - (1 - 9.127327126142399e-7)^900 = 0.000821 Edit: Trav farming is excellent because of the odds on FI and is the way to go so long as we don't get rate limiting again. I will agree that most of my rune drops are from CS; though, I use a sorc so most of my time is in CS as well.

I'm surprised City of the Damned isn't on the list. I thought that was a great place to farm HRs. Here is where i've found HRs Pits : 2x Ohm Trav: 2x Lo Cows: Ber - Jah - Ohm Baal minions: Sur And ofc i've been getting anything under Vex on a regular basis. Countess is the best early on due to the high drop chance + key chance imo. Selling keys is great for getting items. I've not found hrs in LK myself, but i've seen barbs doing trav/LK in public baalruns.

Problem with seal popping in hell mode is the immunities…no char that can do it without either infinity (break immunes for sorc) or enigma (teleport for pally). So you need those runes in order to find them.

Typically looking for a circular map, campfires on tiles at each side of wp. With 200fcr you'll hit 15sec avg runs, possible with 120 as well. Requires you to go to a4 tho so see if you can get low load times as has been mentioned. Chances from LK are something like Ber (value) pr 700 runs if I remember correctly.

From my experience, I would turn around your list from the bottom to the top. My Drops: (8 Pit - Ber) 7 Chaos - Ber 6 Countess - Ohm, Vex, Gul, Ists 5 Arcane - Jah, Lo, Vex, Gul, Ists 4 to 1 - None I would say, that I have done enough runs of everything except Forges, to argue like this. But in the end, it's just luck...

Single player /players7 LK is the best rune farm there is. I ran for about an hour yesterday and got pul, ist, and sur. From my experience sur is a very common drop for runes ist through ber. It is not difficult to cube a jah within 4-6 hours, if you get lucky (drop ber) even less. If you play online the list is very different but single player there is no equal to LK. you are guaranteed to drop high runes. Dbrunski does a great video on this topic, he explains why and some odds.

Great video, though I am confused why you left out Worldstone Keep + Baal. My luckiest rune drops have been cows, 1 Jah 1 Ber, few Lo's, Ohm's and a Cham across 15 yrs of playing. However, recently I've found a Ber + Jah and quite a few high runes from WSK. A well geared Javazon shreds this zone and there is a huge mob variation and lot's of density. Also giga xp.

Yeah confused why he left out WSK here. Mob density is bonkers and they all drop the goods. It's tough to bring a sub-par geared Java in there with the wisps being light immune, but once you have the gear to run WSK its a banger.

This was obviously written by a guy who doesn't play battle.net much, or always has a bunch of people to play with which is unlike the experience for most players online. In general, no you are not going to be able to get a bunch of Gul runes by grushing 7 players at a time (lol please), nor will you be able to readily farm LK chests because if you haven't been playing in the last few months you might not realize how hard it is to consistently find group games online, and when you do, there is always another person or two popping super chests in LK. So yeah, Travincal is the best followed by Cows and Chaos.

In the first ladder season of resurected i joined a grush because I had the ancients quest and the booster wanted help rushing his friend. We also did the hellforge and it dropped an Ist. I waited for him to pick it up but he let me have it and also gave me some starting items like a skin of vipermagi at the end of the run. Some people are nice and fun to play with.

You should emphasize the importance of racks. I found a Mat. Javelin rack in the building with the single super chest in my LK. If I run up from exactly the front and there are no monsters around it always drops a Mat. Javelin. I have found 2 Thunderstrokes in 2 days . Wish I could find a ceremonial javelin rack. Just last week in a span of 5hrs playtime, got Jah, Vex, Gul, Sur, and Ist. All from travincal except for the Jah which dropped from the councils near meph. That's the most hi runes I got in one sitting in 5yrs of playing. And yesterday got a Ber from travincal. Not flexin but I'd definitely recommend travincal.

One thing i dont understand about the Grush 7 people for forge... well actually first since u need a bumper for a Grush you cant actually rush 7 people.. unless the bumper also hasnt done his forge i guess but usually the bumper shouldne thave to pay his forge to be in the grush but that is another detail iguess... My main question is this : Wouldnt it slow the rush waaaaaay down because then you have to separately do each forges in a new game each times, that is 1 game in normal , 1 game in nightmare , 1 game in hell, and then 14 more games for each and every single one of the forges ???????? that seems suuuuper slow and insane and nobody would pay to be included in a Grush where u need to wait for every single player to give their forge LOLL , maybe im missing something here but ive never seen this done lol

Pretty much anywhere with ghosts is worth farming. Beyond that the Fetishes spawn really dense so Flayer Jungle, Niths temple, and WSK can be really good. Personally I like doing AS, then when I find the summoner swap to Tals Tombs for both Ghosts and really dense skellies. I just skip the tombs with beetles, ghouls and Gorebelly as they aren't worth my time. Personally i think CS is your best bet because a "Drive by" run can be done in under 2 minutes and it counts as a full clear, including ghost kills.

I did single player LK runs with a cold sorc for a while and included the sewers since those were close by. I'm pretty sure this was on Hell and at least P4. I had very poor luck finding runes probably because I'm too slow and I get bored too easily 😂 I don't think I made it to 100 runs in all before giving up.

Best way to explain the barb that yells at dead bodies is that when you use find item, it basically gives you a get a second chance for item drops on a previous kill to drop again. It's basically a reroll on the item drops for the mob you've killed. I go dual blade of ali baba for this cause, y'know, highest magic find with 2 weapons. :D

Have been playing since launch and still have yet to find a high rune. Lost count on how many cows, travincal and lower kurast runs I’ve done, but it is well in the thousands. I’m officially throwing in the towel and calling it quits for good. Thank you MrLlama for all the guides and amazing content to help me get through this amazing game. is it just me who the middle seal will often get stuck and I have to keep trying to get it to pop? I'll be hanging around there clicking, telekinesis on it, and just wont pop for a bit.

I have a map of double campfire LK and a great RoF with 2 super chests next to wp so i just do LK, tp back to wp > go RoF super chests Save and Exit, Repeat. I get 8 chests that way, and i don't need to run through act 3 camp. Its about as fast overall but again you get 8 chests. Funny thing though RoF super chests have given me a Sur and a Lo while at the same time im only getting Um runes from LK. RNG be RNG. Great vid!

Thank you for your advises! They're very useful! I did 300 runs to travincal by paladin - hammerdin for 3 days, and i got Gul rune from Counsul. Also I did 20 runs by Foh paladin to Chaos Sanctuary, and I got Ist rune from normal Knight of Chaos. You're right Lower Kurast is too boring work but I don't know when i will get the high run. I play in single game and my goal is "Enigma" for paladin, barbarian and necromancer. How many hours a day should i spend in Lower Kurast to get high runes? Or will i go to Countess because it's faster then LK but it's not a guarantee to get high rune?

I recently got a jah from running ~300 Trav runs. In addition, I found a lem, um, mal, and a slew of super useful items. I am running a hodgepodge frenzy barb with goldwrap, skullders, IK helm (two ptopaz) and IK boots with a slew of various MF scs. Its fast, its easy and I can hork everything with a sort-of budget build.

LK run will never be a choice for bnet solo player (player 1) afaik. I'm still wonder if it possible for player1 to get Ber or Jah from any farming spot in the list.

dropped a Jah in Tombs, Cham in AS and Lo+Ohm in CS all on P1 in the last month. The issue with runes is you need to play the game the opposite of how you MF; Density>Quality. if you just spam bosses for loot your not going to see runes, you have to full clear trash as fast as possible. I recommend CS seal pop (drive by) runs as you can do them in under 2m and I've been averaging 1 ist+ per 100 runs, which isn't bad for ~4h work.

There is only 1 pattern for BER rune and 0 for SUR rune in LK at P1. So it's not impossible, but take longer of course.

Depends on how you farm the chaos. if you solely focus on doing chaos pops which with say a decently geared blizz sorc can be done in 50 seconds to 1min 15 seconds per game with killing diablo. you are looking at hundreds of mobs dying every minute. only other way to do this is with a javazon in wsk or cows, necro in cows. and maybe a very well geared trap sin with enigma in cows. Nothing else really competes with chaos. sure arcane and ect may have more density of ghosts but you waste time trying not to kill the ghosts off the small little paths you have available, chaos is also a set map, tc 87 area and also diablo drops (even better if you quest bug him with other people or if you have multi accounts.

in conclusion, if you have teleport via a sorc or enigma, chaos is where its at. nothing else really even comes close to competing with it other than cows but cows isnt tc 87 and you dont get the chance to get diablo quest drops, one of the best ways to really get high runes in actuality is trading.

Speed is the most important factor for finding anything in Diablo. Lets say you can kill all the Fallen in act 1 in 2 minutes at 7P, than Fallen will bring you the most rune drops for sure. People are struggling in 7p wasting their time instead of lowering the difficulty and do a mass fast kills. That being said every place that you can farm efficient at 7p is the best for your chosen class. For example if i farm only Fallen with a naked orb sorc at the begining i will find faster high rune then you faming LK naked :D

I'm running a zealot paladin and can't kill anything that's phys immune. can't get through the arcane sanctuary because of all the gd ghosts. i know about lawbringer on the merc or reaper's toll, but i haven't found a decent base for lawbringer and i haven't found reaper's toll. what can i do to carry on while i wait for something to drop that will take me to the next level?

I know magic find doesn't help with runes. But should I lower my magic find in cow runs to decrease the pool of items that can drop, thus increasing the chance of high runes. Or should I increase it even more to make sure that the pool doesn't just drop a high rate of white items, but balances out with uniques too, even though that might not necessarily affect the runes? Or does it not work like that? lol

Only reason lowering MF will help for runes is if it allows you to run a higher skill character so you are able to players 7 the area or kill monsters quicker to get more overall drops

With the addition of all the new alvl 85 areas there are definitely places for more runes but overall still you're not gonna be beating places that have ghost monsters (arcane, chaos) or better chances with high density like cows. alvl85 areas that got added weren't really for big density but more farming areas for those high TC items (Which isn't what runes were)
