Back to regularly scheduled programming with a midweek wash and go.
During my visit with my curl specialist Breanna, she suggested trying a water rinse instead of shampooing. This wash and go was done 5 days after my visit with Breanna. I learned a lot about the nuance of styling a wash and go depending on what type of styers you use.

I think the reason why your styling takes so long is because you apply your product in such small sections. I have dense hair and its longer so I understand the pain of setting alot of hair lol. I apply my products in 3 big sections on each side (6 for my whole head), add water, then let it marinate for a few minutes. After that I go through each section and rake + smooth my curls. This prevents me from using too much product and saves time while still getting great results.
@curlynella1011
@curlynella1011 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the sections will have you in there forever. I still remember when I first went natural and I use to shampoo in sections thinking my hair would tangle up. One day I was over it and never looked back. Now when adding my dc or mask, I do * sections to ensure every strand is coated. And while styling I do the most sections because I likemaximum definition but it takes about 45 minutes to style my hair which is a win for me. It use to take me an hr and a half 😮

I applied this Wash N’ Go in such small sections because of what was recommended to me by my stylist. I was just trying something new. I see a lot of curl specialist add the product everywhere and then rake and smooth it through. Thanks for sharing that tip! I’m sure that’ll help save time and product. Do you do that when you use foam as a base as well?
@ash5864
@ash5864 Жыл бұрын
@@BrittanyMia I had to come to terms with the fact that my wash & go will probably never look the way my stylist does it lol. I used to apply all over in one big section like my stylist did but after practicing I tweaked it a bit and applied in sections. The one time I ever tried using foam as a base was with the doux. I didn’t particularly like using this method with that. But this also makes me want to give it another shot bc my technique wasn’t the best when I first tried it.

Hi ! Hope you’re doing well. Your wash day are always relaxing ! Mine was yesterday and for once didn’t do a wash n go . I did 8 twists and will keep them until Thursday (going in the office so I’ll do a slick bun ). I wash once a week and I maintain my hair at night with a kind of a buff. It’s stay all night on my hair (I still sleep on silk pillow case )

Up until three weeks ago I was shampooing twice weekly. One day i forgot my shampoo downstairs and all I had in the shower was my OGX conditioner I “cowashed” with that and my wash day went soooo much faster! I’ve been using this method for the last three weeks and it makes my mid-week style session go sooooo much faster. (I don’t deep condition on my cowash days)

Week one I used it with UFD week 2 I used mousse def alone this past week I used taliah waajid curly curl cream wetline and mouse def (a lot I know lol) I am enjoying my “cowash” days as I detangle and section before I start my Routine I don’t use a tool at all mid week just my fingers. I still can not get my definition to last 4 days. I wonder is it bc I can’t keep my hands out my hair???

Hi ❤ Would you try learning how to finger detangle while washing? The concept sounds so simple but my fingers were very awkward at first and it’s not natural since we’re so accustomed to using tools. I now could finger detangle in the shower to the point where I can run my fingers through my hair. It does take an hour for me with should length hair though but it’s highly dense and I take my time.
@BrittanyMia
@BrittanyMia Жыл бұрын
Yeah, finger detangling is not very easy for me either. It’s something that I’ll have to do outside of the shower before getting in the shower to stop myself from rushing and causing breakage. It would take me about the same amount of time probably so I’ll be trying that out in the future.

What is your regular shampoo that you use and what clarifying shampoo do you use?? Have you tried pre poo? Pre poo is so good especially if you use a strong shampoo
@BrittanyMia
@BrittanyMia Жыл бұрын
I use different hydrating shampoos, but the same main clarifying shampoo; the OlaPlex NC4. The hydrating shampoos I use are the Trepadora rinse, Ouidad cleansing oil, and a few others. I also use the AG balancing shampoo. I've tried pre-pooing with the African Pride pre-poo, it was okay. I'm still testing to see what works and won't add more work when it comes to shampooing. So far, I like doing my OlaPlex treatments because I can hop in the shower and shampoo for 5-10 minutes with the OlaPlex No4, rinse that and go in with the No0 or just straight to the No3 and use that treatment as a pre-poo to detangle before shampooing the second time. It actually saves me time in the shower since I hop out during the treatment application and my hair is thoroughly detangled during that step.

How would you rate your experience using gels, mousse, and creams? Do you like curling creams? I shaved my hair completely last July and it’s hard to find a product that pairs well with others. I used this Aloe Butter Gel and it completely tamed my curls. Botanical gels make everything flake. Also the Camille Rose Honey Mousse is something I think you should try. It is good for defining and honestly feels like a leave in at first with how emollient like it feels.
@BrittanyMia
@BrittanyMia Жыл бұрын
I use gel a lot, but they are still my least favorite styling product. I love custards and creams. Gels give me longevity, but custard and creams give me the definition, volume and softness that I like for my wash and go’s. I’ve been on the search for more custard‘s and creamy leave in products that will give me a successful wash and go for at least 2 to 4 days. I think I found a great one, but that video will be coming out within the next week or two!

@@BrittanyMia I would love to see you try the Camille Rose Aloe Whipped Butter Gel and other rich cream like gels as a styler after a leave-in. I just picked up the Camille Rose Aloe Whipped Butter Gel and was considering returning it. Is it really considered a gel? It feels like a cream to me. I know you won’t be purchasing much anytime soon and will patiently wait if you choose to try it.

@@celestialmorpho I can’t wait to try it because I have never seen a cream like product do that, at least for my hair. I was so shocked when I opened the container and initially thought 🤦🏽‍♀️ Thank you for letting me know because I was definitely contemplating returning it because I know my hair would not last a day with a cream as the only styler. I’m new to using two gel or two styler combos so I’m not sure of any cream styler and gel combos that work.
@celestialmorpho
@celestialmorpho Жыл бұрын
@@BeYoutifulBombshell make sure you mix it in the palm of your hand with anything your was to use it with. it should be completely smooth when mixed with the product you’re using it with. and i kinda did a little finger cooking. the cream is not something that cause clumpage by itself like a gel or mousse would. it’s very thick so you have to move it along your hair manually but it’s very moisturizing and will have some kind of hold like i said before. small sections. good luck.

Your beautiful swirls of curls are definitely growing🌱💦 With using foam as a base, do you think it will affect the behavior of your hair?
@BrittanyMia
@BrittanyMia Жыл бұрын
I think so yes. That’s mainly why I did it in such small sections because that’s what Breanna recommended for it to have volume and definition on day 1 without needing to use a gel as a base.
