MUCH simpler way to attack this is to consider reflection about Y = 0 line. You have a hexagon. The largest possible area is a regular hexagon, vertices at +/- 60 degrees, coordinates 1/2. √3/2, or use formula for 6 equilateral triangles. Then take half of that.
