This was probably one of the best tasks in the whole show. It has everything, one gets no points, one uses all of the handicaps and gets no points, one figures out the trick, one uses a clever trick, and one just gets it by sheer luck. Also one ends with a shot of one of the contestants in shambles on the floor, it's everything that's great about Taskmaster in one task

Note that the challenge doesn't actually say "find the picture of the back of your hand" - just "find the back of your hand". I'm wondering if that was a deliberate choice to allow a contestant to simply point out the back of their hand, and finish the challenge in a second. (Or alternately, asking if you can have the fake hand, and then find the back of THAT hand.)
@MissCaraMint2 жыл бұрын
It was my immediate instinct to do exactly that. It's not as if the whole Magritte painting of a pipe thing isn't well known or anything. The logic has got artistic backing behind it.

Yeah I just made this assumption as well. They always go to great pains to say everything you need to know is in the envelope and it was read out for us. Shame, really, cos without this loophole (which noone seemed to realise) the task is quite intense.
@danmakes24972 жыл бұрын
Though sometimes despite the wording, they probably wpuld still say "it doesn't count" and can be annoying when they do point out the wording other times. One example is when the contestants needed to make a block of ice "disappear"; one threw it in the river and actually made it disappear but was told it didn't count meanwhile others melted it but the water was still there but got points.
@GoriIIaTactics2 жыл бұрын
Finding loopholes isn't as entertaining as it sounds when you keep doing it
@kevinschultz60912 жыл бұрын
@@GoriIIaTactics - oh, sure. I can imagine that, as this is a partially scripted show, there's occasionally times that a contestant does something that is quick and efficient and makes for bad television - and they get asked to do something different. And because everyone involved is a professional, they probably do, because they all (collectively) want the show do to well. As one of the contestants in an earlier season said, "I didn't realize until now that there's a certain performative element involved" in being on the show. Good contestants are first and foremost entertaining, and competitive a distant second.

It's not that Alex thought up a room that creepy. We're all capable of sinister fantasies. It's that he acted on it. He created that space and then stood silhouetted in the doorway like the monster who would catch the victim attempting to flee from being trapped in that horror movie nightmare of a garage. Even if you knew it was just a silly game and were beyond any shadow of a doubt safe, how could the involuntary fear reactions not crawl through your body in that space? Highly unsettling.

Lots of different folk with different mental processes. As a non participant, I’d be thinking of camera angles needed for the show. What’s the camera seeing that I’m not? Often they hid clues this way... and... accelerants. In this case they’d want a good shot of the finding. Pattern matching my hand from the photo shoot would be easy for me. I see differences way more than most folks. What’s unsettling is the Dexter room. The presence of the crew negates the Dexter effect for the participants. But not us viewers.
