Middle aged male here. I tried my first puzzle of this type a few days ago and was only able to get 7 of the 15 possible differences correct. Since then, I have tried two puzzles per day and I have seen a steady performance increase. On this puzzle, I scored 14/15 and on most of the puzzles, I was able to spot all three differences in just a few seconds. I wonder if this is a legitimate example of brain plasticity in a middle-aged adult.

Fantastic! You have an eye for detail. I have never been good at finding anything. I will walk right past things I need at the hardware store without them registering. I've always been that way.

I don't know if the timescale that you provide is enough to justify your improvement as an example of brain plasticity. As a fellow-aged male having recently come to these kind of puzzles I have also improved extremely quickly. My improvement appears to be based on me now using a consistent method where I consistently scan the picture from top left to bottom right, rather than just random scanning. However, perhaps in favour of what you imply, I have noted that I am observing more differences instantaneously than I did previously...often, but certainly not always! all 3 differences within a few seconds.

@@snapcracklenpop821 I suspect your insight is correct. I think. I don’t know if my methodology has changed. I suspect it might be like getting used to listening to a new accent. At first, the person is difficult to understand but after a short time, one can easily understand them.
