Ok.... what about chord inversions? Kick drums where the peak amplitude isn't necessarily the dominate frequency (like a 808 with a long decay curve on pitch)? Processed files where, for example, the fundamental frequency has been attenuated? How about an RM sound where the side bands are mixed in higher than the fundamental? In the case of Ableton what do you do if the peak seems to sit perfectly between two note values? If you are pitching using a spectrum analyzer just how close to the note value are we aiming for before we call it 'in tune'? Man I can go on... though probably not for much longer :D I get the entry level videos, I do, but tutorials like this held me back for years. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. (of course the opposite, and equally un-helpful, advice is to 'trust your ears'... in your bedroom, with your wonky acoustics and mid road monitors and shaky music theory. God I'm glad I'm well in to this by now, I do NOT envy you people just starting out! Welcome to the rabbit hole muwhahaha)

Super helpful video. About 6yrs ago my buddy was tryna explain this stuff to me & it felt like he was speaking Chinese to me, it was way over my head & I was afraid but I've watched about 5 videos today & I got Ableton pulled up & I'm doing it.👍. What about something like a ride/hh. The FF for certain instruments are way up in the hi end of the spectrum ie G(7th octave) so when I set G7 in "sampler" my lower octaves are super bassy ?

@@erendal13 no no, like in the same way as on video. I actually has found some particular solution for precise kick and bass tune - Pusher from Waves. But for other sounds no solution.
