It seems like thats what hes thinking, because Goku pushed Gohan to his limits... and he wont be compromising any longer! 2:05 , "I CAN CUT RIGHT THROUGH STEEL, I CAN BURY THE BLADE" emphasizes that Gohan is now much more powerful than every other Z-Fighter present, and can cut through the Cell Jr.s with absolute EASE! 2:30 , "I've been there, and I've seen it!" seems like its coming from Perfect Cell's perspective, as he has seen a power boost just as similar, hes experience power boosts like that twice now! He understands that now Gohan might just be on an even playing field, but he doesn't care because hes managed to beat everyone else here... well, to a degree. 3:02 , "It's like I'm seein' double vision, take a seat I'm on a mission" seems to be coming from Imperfect Cell, as hes now realizing he may just be outmatched by an opponent stronger than him... or on equal power level as him. Double Vision in this instance is him seeing HIMSELF in Gohan, even if he just got weakened... the whole energy flowing through the person comes back with the background guitar riffs. 3:14 , Once more, it sounds like the energy is flowing again, this time through Explosive Imperf. Cell... and hes ready to end it ALL. HERE. AND NOW! (also, nice job Gohan... you almost blew up where I keep my stuff.) 4:06 , "Now here we go, its the end of the show! Here them? Their calling your name!" Super Perfect Cell (my headcanon name for this Cell) appears just as their celebrating their victory over him... their all technically calling his name... and now? Its the end of the show! AND HE HEARS THEM! 4:41 , There are no lyrics, just guitar as they go crazy, ready to destroy one or the other in one last final Kamehameha! 4:45 , It seems like everything is lost, and Gohan starts to do a Kamehameha with just one arm, the music emphasizes that this is a last ditch attack, as if it doesn't work.. it'll all be for nothing! 4:57 , "YOU AND THIS WHOLE PLANET ARE DONE FOR!" "WE WONT! BACK DOWN!" The combination of both lines is great, as Cell declares his victory as the two fire their Kamehameha's at one another... and the music is SCREAMING that neither of them will let up their attacks, as their no longer going to back down or go easy... this is now life or death. 5:17 , "Pour every ounce of power you have left into that Kamehameha like Cell is doing!" Is heard as the music rises and becomes more intense, before Goku just SCREAMS "NOW!" Before it gets more intense with the Father Son Kamehameha blowing Cell away... 5:29 , Just as Gohans Kamehameha over powered Cells, the music kicked in HARD, and just went off just like the Kamehameha does! Amazing! 5:43 , "Hear them, their calling your name... cause in the end... its you and your friends... you'll find your flame..." Gohan did it... in the end, it really was just him and his friends... they were all calling his name... he found his flame, and he destroyed Cell...

While yes, SSJ2 is a large boost from just standard Super Saiyan, Cell has had two large boosts before battling Gohan, before overpowering him when he self destructs and gets a Zenkai Boost like Saiyans would. (I think that is what the whole power up after recovering from Injuries is called.)

By this point Super Saiyan 2 had already been a form and had been animated. Even Super Sonic’s concept art shows him standing in the same pose from the same perspective as the most iconic panel of Super Saiyan Goku from the manga and anime, you can see parts where it was even traced over Goku.
