Findhorn Bay, Findhorn, Moray, Scotland 1 Sep 2022

This video is 10m 34s and is longer than most I have posted but I hope you enjoy it. Today, 1 Sep 2022 was a beautiful day with no wind and I flew my drone around Findhorn and Findhorn Bay. The first part is over the bay, the second part is on the north side of the village over the sandy beach and the third part shows the 'retired' Nimrod MR2, XV244 'Duke of Edinburgh'.
As the MoD site is now Kinloss Barracks, previously RAF Kinloss, the drone flying restrictions have been lifted.

@@johnluckwelldroneenthusiast. sadly no John, I had family based at Lossiemouth for a few years and used to descend on them for holidays, so I got to know that part of the Moray coast quite well.

Thanks for the memories! 7 1/2 great years there (but far too long ago)! 24 Mar 1980 was the last time I flew XV244 (while it was still the MR1 spec).

Thanks Nigel ... I'm glad you enjoyed the video and with it, good memories. What was your role at Kinloss? I was Avionics groundcrew and spent most of my time at Kinloss on NMSU (RAF Findhorn!) I was there 1978 - 1990

@@johnluckwelldroneenthusiast. I was a pilot on 201Sqn 1977-84 so our dates overlapped. Sorry, you probably had to keep fixing the stuff I broke! I left the RAF in 1990.

@@nigel9903 I wonder if you know my near neighbour in Mosstodloch, who is a retired Sqn.Ldr Nimrod pilot from (I think!) the OCU. His name is Rob Wigham.

@len333p ... I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I too was at Kinloss between 1978 and 1990, mostly on NMSU. The whole area is beautiful.

I was there at NMSU with the BAE Sytems CWP supporting the MK2 maintenance activities. Used to stay at the Ramnee Hotel. Living in Canada now. Sad about Kinloss.

I only remember Bob Smyton (sadly no longer with us). He was our 1st Line corporal at Leuchars on Lightning's in the late 60s.

No, permission not necessary, as I flew outwith the base boundary. Findhorn Bay is now not restricted, as it was when RAF Kinloss was active.
