I'm a happy curly hair brunette and am slowly getting my sparkles (grey) and am not mad about it. I've been to the hairdresser maybe twice in the past 7 years. That all to say I'm probably the most opposite to Kayley. But I just love your videos. You're a ray of sunshine and I just adore your attitude and perspective on life- the great and the not so great.

Honestly so glad you are talking about this. I have EDS MCAS and POTs (the trifecta). Breakage totally is part of the autoimmune life. It’s good to have someone who understands your hair and supports you. Medications can do such a number especially if your on steroids and other strong meds. 😅

Oh how I have missed your hair nerdiness on KZbin! As someone who loves healthy hair but has zero clue about what to do at a hair salaon to get the look I want (not that I know what that is half the time), or be brave enough to try new things on my hair, this is so helpful! Thank you for taking us on your hair journey, I find it interesting to see your likes and dislikes, and how to rehab your hair back to health :) P.S. Your hair looks amazing at both lengths!

Great to see you back making content! Some constructive criticism (technical, not personal!) if you're in a healthy place to receive it: . . . . . personally I don't love the "aside to the second camera" conceit. I get that it's a way to break up talking head monotony and potentially an easier edit than inserting B roll but I find it super artificial and contrived. For me it interrupts the flow of the video and just feels off. You are definitely not the only creator I've seen do it, I've simply never enjoyed it. If you love it or it makes your life much easier while editing obviously you should follow your joy, but just one watcher's two cents. I'd much rather see B roll, even static images, or just the same angle throughout. It's a talky YT video, the direct to camera delivery is standard for the format and this wheel did not need to be reinvented.
@bibliophilecb7 ай бұрын
I second that the second camera places a bit of uncomfortable distance! It feels very “corporate KZbin video” and makes it harder to connect to all the lovely things Kayley is saying!
@Diana-qp2rw7 ай бұрын
I agree, it feels much more like a friend is talking to me when it’s just one camera angle.

I agree, I have a hard time with my eyes with movements I see double vision so seeing things jump or move fast brings out my double vision. It’s a chronic illness I have, called IIH. I also have a hard time with the asmr tiktoks that are one movement to the next in a different frame.

As someone with androgenetic alopecia, videos about how to keep your hair healthy are like everything to me so I’m thrilled for this series! Also as someone whose hair suddenly turned wavy and has no idea how to deal with it, I’d be so here for that too!! Also just really nice to see you around and posting again and looking so much happier.
@Diana-qp2rw7 ай бұрын
Did you change anything about your hair routine? I used to think my hair was straight and just a bit stubborn, but when I started using a different shampoo and conditioner (never used it before my first chemical treatment because I didn’t need it) and hair oil, my hair got wavier, even some actual curls. Combing the hair with a big comb while it’s still wet, air drying it, and using hair oil helps a lot for my hair. It’s still not where I want it to be, but it’s getting better. Sometimes, my waves look cute and when they don’t, I just brush them (big comb, the same one I’m using when it’s wet, or a brush for wavy hair) and use some hair oil or product for curls afterwards, then it looks so much better.

Love your videos and so happy you're back!! I did just want to say that if you're doing the multiple camera angles because you want the experience to be more dynamic for the viewer, I personally am totally happy with the single front view unless you specifically need to show something from the side or back. It must take time and energy to plan and remember where to turn and talk, and I think it's totally beautiful with just the one camera angle :) However, if it makes you happy to do it, carry on!

Hi Melissa, been here since your beginning in youtube☺. I love your transparency and realness ♥️ First comment from me, because I understand what you mean with "could not take care of my self, now I can again". I'm a mom of a 4 years old son with cancer. He got diagnosed in October 2023. The first visit to a hair dresser after his dg... It was brutal. I had lost 50% of my hairs fullness because of stress. Now that he is getting better, my hair has slowly been growing back and I am able to take care of me and my hair again. We are complicated creatures and life is shitty sometimes 🤷

I was in the live chat and I wanted to say I'm so happy for you reclaiming you're hair. Story: I went through something similar, life was hard and my hair was falling out(it was at the point where I tried not to look in the mirror while my hair was wet), and about 2-3 years, everything I was doing to help it finally paid off. Now it full and seems healthy. I was very nervous about bleaching it(just the bottom half of my head), and I also died the top half red for a concert in March. But I did all that because I needed change and I want to have fun with it, I'm 37 and I told myself it's time to have fun and live a little. ❤❤❤❤

I love this. I went through the exact same process a month or so ago: looking for a new stylist in a new town. When I first moved, I went somewhere for a quick trim and had the worst haircut. This time, I did so much Instagram and review sleuthing to finally find someone, and I had the best experience! It was sad leaving my stylist of 7 years, but the research paid off! I went with so many inspo photos and realistic goals. My advice for making sure your hair isn't cut too short is saying "I want to keep the length as much as possible". I also tell them how I style my hair. For example, when I'm working I braid my hair, so I ask for longer layers so they don't fall out of the braids.

This video is so fun and interesting, and comes at the right time for me because I’m finally taking more care of my hair again and trying to get it to grow out healthy. I just cut off my hair at shoulder length because it was so broken and (unfortunately still) falling out. It started after I had Covid in 2021, got worse due to mental health issues and stress, disordered eating and hormonal issues, and bleaching didn’t help. I can’t wait for my hair to grow back, but I just needed to cut it off. I’m in a much better place now, so I’m hopeful that my hair will grow back beautifully. Right now, I’m just amazed at how thick it looks again. I’m also seeing that it’s more wavy than it used to be, so maybe I’ll be able to keep that up with the right hair care. Can’t wait for more videos on hair care and tips.

Very good video! And I am the same. When I saw your hair, I saw the length was shorter than you wanted and the orange in the lenghts were still there. So I am so glad you pointed that out even though you are a hair nerd ( like me) and you know so much, even you can make misstake when you want your hair done. It is so easy to show a picture of a hairstyle and get a totally different color or cut. So this was so informative and good to know Im not alone! Because I know Alot about hair and still when I see a hairstylist.. my hair has a 50/50 chance of becoming what I wanted it to be😅

I would love any help toward a wavy hair routine! Or "how to put up wavy hair while you're exercise, so that you can take it down and now you style isn't completely ruined and/or have to completely restyle". I actively avoid working out because I know it's going to destroy my hairstyle and I'm stuck with up-dos until the next wash day 4 days away 😖 Also, I like the side cut aways, it breaks up the static "speaking directly at the camera." I feel like it gives a little bit of a breather and adds more interest when you've got a long monologue. I know some comments didn't like it, but you can't please everyone ❤

@maitesoto19537 ай бұрын
It's probably less that they can only do one technique and more that they have a personal style that they're comfortable with and excel at. So they can probably do a blended look even if they usually work with macrohighlights, but the end result might not be as good as someone's who specialises in blending
