When my family moved to Seattle we would go out nearly every exceptional minus tide we could to go clamming, I guess we never got a Geoduck because we were at water's edge. Just some kids from Kansas that didn't know anything back in '67 but we all fell in love with Puget Sound.

That's great Mark! For what it's worth I prefer steamers to geoducks. Well said Burr!

Great vid. I didn’t grow up around here and most of the people I know are my wife’s family. Who are great people but not much for the outdoors. Folks like you who make this stuff really help me out.

Wow Blake, excellent video explaining the difference between horse clams and geoducks. Interesting about the geoduck having the most biomass in the Sound.

Thanks! I almost find it hard to believe with all the harvesting of them, but if it's muddy, they can grow... And we got a lot of mud!

Appreciate you showing what they look like when they are withdrawn in the ground. That is super helpful as you don't always see the siphon exposed.

Thank you for your education on this subject matter Sir. I am just amazed as to the number of ducks you you have in Washington State. What would you recommend someone from Pennsylvania do to get a killer vacation hunting geo ducks. Your video is top notch and down to earth.

Thanks for another awesome video. I’m so excited to go dig for geoducks for my first time. I was planning on going to Dosewalips, but it sounds like that is over dug. Could you recommend another beach. I read Potlach also has them, but I’m guessing that’s the same as Dosewalips. Any recommendations would be appreciated

Hey Porter! For the month of July I don't have a recommendation. However with a -4 you could probably find them at Dosewallips. Good chance anyway. Anything below a -3.8 is rare, and Dosewallips was closed in June (for this -4 tide video). So, hopefully some ducks at low tide!

Hi Blake, have you ever seen the geoducks in spawn? I live in the Bay Area in California and there are some here in tomales bay. Back in 2017 end of April I saw them in spawn mode and every geoduck had it's siphon stick about 4" above the sand and is bring orange so they were supper easy to spot. I am just curious if you have ever witness them spawn and see if there are certain conditions.
@WAFishQuest

@@WAFishQuestthe same spot where I dig for geoduck without spawn mode I’d be lucky to find one every other trip I go out, but in spawn mode an area the size of my living room I found 15. The area is huge so you can imaging a bunch of 4-5” bright orange swollen siphons ticking up it was a sea of orange erect siphons😂 I have not witnessed it since and I try to go out roughly the same time every year.

Dosewallips is a popular beach, but has so much pressure I wouldn't recommend it unless it's a -3.5 tide or lower.
