Do you use the McDougal Littell Geometry TextBook (Texas)?
@dciske5 жыл бұрын
AstroAstro It might have been? But not Texas. This is a few years back. We are now using a Pearson book but I think it might have been a McDougal Littell at the time.

Please help me find the value of y in a pentagon if 89°,y,130°,71°,y-10
@dciske6 жыл бұрын
A pentagon has five sides so to find the sum of the measures of the internal angles set n=5. (5-2)180 = 540. That's the sum of the internal measures. The equation you then need to solve for y is 89 + y + 130 + 71 + (y-10) = 540 combine like terms: 2y + 280 = 540 subtract 280 from both sides 2y = 260 divide both sides by 2 y = 130

I was with you until the last one. With the x + (×+20)+112+96 = 360 after that you went to 2x + 228 = 360 . Wjere did the + 20 in the () go??

1:44 I'm grade 6 and confused on how it's a 4 also why does it have to be 180
@dciske3 жыл бұрын
It's a 4 because you plug in the number of sides into the formula. The figure has six sides. So (n-2) is (6-2) which is 4. I'd like to go more deeply into where the 180 comes from, but it's a little hard in comments. It was to do with how many triangles are formed when you drop diagonals in the polygon. I'm sure you could find some videos explaining a proof of the formula. Good luck!

😭😭😭😭💔💔I'm sorry but I'm slow in maths, what should I divide to get 206???? You said divide the two sides with 334
@dciske3 жыл бұрын
I subtracted 334 from both sides then divided both sides by 2 to isolate the x.

ma'am please tell us how to calculate the area of polygon(pentagon to do decagon ). Sudipta /India
@danaemk7 жыл бұрын
For the type of problem I'm doing here, I don't have enough info. If I had side lengths, I could break the shape up into a series of triangles and find the area of the triangles.
