Finding Crystals and Thunder Eggs Near Brisbane Queensland | Thunderbird Park Tamborine Mountain

In this adventure I went out in search of the famous Tamborine Mountain Thunder Eggs. I found them and so much more! I used the facilities at Thunderbird Park to legally fossicking for these unique geologic objects!
I would highly recommend this as an entry level experience to fossicking - it is in a secure location with access to help and is a fun day out. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and sunscreen as even in winter it can get super hot.

Hi this video has a lot of information I have been wanting to know more about and you obviously have some great knowledge about this area and it's history. Unfortunately the wind is blowing strongly affecting audio and blowing your hauf in your mouth too. Could you please contact me as this is where I live and this is the first fossicking I will do finally. I know there's gems in my backyard so to speak. Plus I'm interested in geology, earth processes, Ibfinf it fascinating even as I child I have always been interested in volcanoes etc. Cheers mate hope to learn as much as I can

I went there a few days ago it was really hot and I mined a amtheus the workers said it was the biggest in the shop but I have it with me I was on level 2 top

That’s awesome Amy! I tried taking out two huge ones on level 2 but gave in cause they were bound to the larger rock matrix 🫠 I’d love to see pics of your finds!

Look up dinmore and redbank plains fossils! Located within Ipswich, not far from Brisbane

Awesome video. I live near tambourine, do you have any idea where I might find a small sample of flint or chert?

Thanks Chris! Flint/Chert is a sedimentary rock so I would look around coastal areas or places where there have been uplift from ocean floors (e.g. valleys of the granite belt or the blue mountains near Sydney). The tambourine area is primarily volcanic (igneous) so the wrong formation environment however there may be pockets that I’m not aware of! I hope that helps :)
