Nice one, Muddy! I once sawed a dead little branch so similar to the one that you did, but it wasn't very resinous. Now, I'm thinking maybe it wasn't right up in the joint, close to the trunk. I don't know, I've got to try again. I WILL find fatwood one day! :) ATB

+James of the Dark Hey Jimbo, keep looking buddy. You will find it one day. There are lots of ways to find it, it helps if you are in a coniferous forest for a start! ATB Muddy.

Great video as always muddy, wicked fatwood find, never known dogs to eat sprats, especially as treats ,cheers craig

+Craig Twiner Thanks Craig. I think I love the smell of fatwood over its uses for firelighting! My dogs will eat anything to be honest but I'd rather give them something more natural than some of these dog treats you see with loads of additives and colouring. They sell packets of these dried sprats at my local pet shop and the dogs love them! ATB Muddy.

I found this Vid very interesting I just uploaded a vid o locating fat wood in my area I see the trees look to be the same species we call them red pine here and the branches from a couple inches out to the center of the tree produce lovely fat wood

+cabotbluegill Thanks for your comment, I shall have to check out your vid. We have many different types of pine, spruce and fir. I shall have to pay more attention to what I'm looking at to give people a bit more information. Thanks again and all the best, Muddy.

Great video. How do you get on with wildlife with the dogs? The reason I ask is I used to take my mums dog out years ago (a small collie cross) and she used to spot more than me? Cheers, Steve.
@SamsonsLeader9 жыл бұрын
+C Veg (Bushcraft) Hi Steve. I reckon that they see, hear and smell a lot more than I do. When I have been out without them I see much more. But they will miss a squirrel up high or a pheasant that is out of their line of fire and sometimes I see quite a lot because they flush it out! Thanks for watching and commenting. ATB Muddy.
