I don't know why, but I'm a bit disappointed that these “gas giants” are completely solid. I thought there would be more of a situation with floating islands under the atmosphere and certain death if you ventured too deep.

Well I must say gas giants do have a solid core , they often have layering seas of gas with different density , so that could be possible in theory

All gas giants have a planet at the center. It's very small compared to the rest of the gas giant but there's always a solid core

I must say that gas giants do have a solid core, but there’s no clear solid surface to land on. The transition between gas, liquid, and solid phases is gradual due to extreme pressure and temperature, meaning there’s no distinct boundary like on a terrestrial planet. If you somehow reached the 'surface' of the core, the surrounding supercritical fluid would have nearly the same density as the ‘ground’ beneath you, making the concept of landing meaningless. What nms portrays as a ‘gas giant’ is really just a scaled-up Venus with a thick atmosphere, not an actual gas giant.

Just fyi, don't ignore the "normal" planets in purple systems. While the biomes may be what youve already seen, the purple system planets all use the new terrain generation. Really cool stuff

Just a quick tip there is new hazardous flora so anyone who is scrolling remember, there’s a new plant in town it spins around and slaps ya it scared the living crap out of me at first I was in VR. No one told me but truth be told. I wasn’t thinking about new hazardous flora Lol

It is possible to get a base up to the surface on a water world. I built one base on the sea floor (650U down) near a power node. I then extended a tower of blocks going up about 250U but got to an outside-base limit. However, by descending ~ 30U I was able to build another couple of blocks into "no mans land". I was then able to place a new base computer on top of those blocks and continued another tower of blocks rising up to the surface where I put main base modules. I put a pier out to reach the same power node zone used by the lower base. Then I put a chain of teleporters in powered cube rooms down from the top base and another chain up from the sea floor base and you can swim out of one and into the other to transit between bases :)

There is a nice glitch (or feature) when you archive a starship with damaged inventory slots. The game gives you an error that all inventory(cargo) will be destroyed. Just confirm to archive the spacecraft and when it gets restored, all inventory slots which have been damaged are now “repaired”.

Some Waterworlds still have small islands. Also check out the Giant planets. They have the size of a gas giant, but are 'normal', so Frozen, Paradise or Hot. Just 1 planet with some moons in those systems.

I found a giant water locked planet that had very sporadic little islands. The deepest part I found so far on that planet was like 1400 U... It's also worth upgrading your Humboldt engines in the sub for more power and longer ranges. Once I was down 1200 U and my sub broke 2 of it's upgrades just sitting there while I was building xD

I think the gas giant atmospheres should take longer to fly through. I understand from a gameplay perspective, but you can get to the surface of other planet types within a minute. I think gas giant planets should take 1 to 2 minutes.

To those who are new or dont know that, on the freigther you can move to a system with it and scan all the planet at once its very fast to find them like that, i think a brand new player cant do that you need to play a little bit but its a good way to find them very easy

@@catamacaroni6718 yes finish the main story line so the artemis quest.... then you make sure to do the autophage quest (have a settelment too) there are plenty of tutorials on how to activate the quest etc, after you have finished you will encounter the quest somewhere in space just explore a bit hop planet to planet.... note that im just telling you what i've learned i have yet to finish the autophage quest etc took me 2 days to grind everything inculding the main storyline so i am not yet there too

On PS5, having issue diving down deep on Water Giants. Below 500U the water turns into AIR and I end up falling to the bottom. Crazy! Jump up and down a few times and Air goes back to water, but still an issue. Even more fun when then happens in a Sub. LOL

Update from Feb 3 didn’t fix my deep water issue. Spawn sub and let it fall to the ocean floor is kind of nice and fast way to the bottom. 😂

Just figured out the bug. When under water and a storm comes in the water turns into air. When you get the announcement Storm Clearing the water comes back.

water worlds are a great addition to the game although gas giants are kind of misleading, I feel like in a next update gas giants should be Actual gas giants with all air (maybe some floating islands) and liquid outer cores that take a while to get too. this could also make way for floating bases! that would be cool.

Quick PSA: Don't build bases above deep oceans on water planets! For whatever reason, it seems to use the ocean floor as the actual surface height, so if you build a base above the water, it'll forget the base and all its parts. (The same way it does if you build too high up) I don't think it's intentional, but I've had it happen to me consistently. Bases on islands on these planets should be fine, but be careful!

I was able to vertically stack bases by stacking blocks up to the max height from a sea bed base (near a power node). Staying inside the base limit I was able to add a few blocks up into the area beyond the normal build. I was then able to swim up and add a second base computer on top of those blocks (reaching out the same power node zone topside). Then I could extend another block tower starting at the base computer all the way to the surface where I put most of the base infrastructure. Just for grins, I built several intermediate powered cube rooms with pairs of teleporters and external watertight doors. This formed a teleporter chain from the seabed base to the upper chamber right below the second topside base computer. Swim out of one up into the other and use the teleport chain all the way to the surface.

Jason try finding Giants, not to be confused with Gas Giants. They're only in purple systems and in the galactic map it'll look like just one large planet is orbiting the star with moons around it, but the orange text will say "dissonant" instead of "gas giant" That's the system that'll have one gigantic planet, feels like they're 100 times bigger than regular planets in the game.

Hopefully Part 3 has it to where Gas Giants, Waterworlds, and Titanic Planets end up in regular systems. Would love to see more complete Star Systems, with a mixture of planet types! Anyone got the same issue? I go to a water world, use my submarine, and then the world glitches out and forces me onto the bottom of the ocean floor and then acts like there’s no water at all and the submarine won’t move at all, then I exit and doesn’t show I’m under water until I summon my submarine again then I get back in and it glitches again like I’m not under water, and then my life support systems drain like crazy even in my submarine

I found a moon orbiting a red gas giant, Arwen Prime. Tir Na Nog is a moon covered in archipelagos and green palms. I had something similar before the "next" update, so im glad this update came out. Now I'm spending the rest of my days getting a tan and fishing. (By the way, fishing is a very underrated update and gives me stardew and animal crossing vibes.)

Water planets can have a few small islands, I've found 2 or 3 that had small island chains but I wouldn't put it at even 1% of the surface. They were also deep water 1400 and 1600 spots I found on the ones with islands

Gas and water planets only spawn in purple systems? I also know my starting purple system the game put me in, has a ruined planet, however I didn't know about the memory stones. Time to go farm. I also found a water world but it did have some land, could have been more like peaks of mountains so to speak, but the depths were only around 800u. Things vary quite a bit, but it's really good to have the aqua-jets incase you don't find a planet like I found.

I've been having a problem with the water planets where at random times it will act as a regular planet and I suddenly start falling to the ground. The nautilon also does this. I'm not sure if it's just this one planet or not. I'm on PS5.

I need a help actually. So basically I was on my way to finish the story quest. And my first purple planet got created. Before I got the chance to do anything else. Mu game crashed snd I spawned back to my home base which is oblivion ly away. And now I am permanently locked away from accessing purple systems as how obscenely huge the mission distance is.

I hope Light No Fire has so many easter eggs linking it to NoMans Sky and we can read about the Atlas, the Sentinels and Travelers along with all races of the universe! Ooooh what if theres a part in the main quest in Light No Fire that they send down an explorering Korvax and you buy some things from him and he stays there as a new vendor?! Or what if even Artemis lands on the planet after they tell you they talked to a Traveler and heard something about them not wanting you to d😱 that would ne so damn cool! That would mean we're in that same machine that we sent Artemis!!! But it would be so awesome to see No Mans Sky in Light No Fire but nit just pieces! They include it into the story so we can interact with and find out things like how Artemis is doing because they've been lost since 2016!

@@E.T.whisperer make sure you’ve also finished the trace of metal quest line, then go to a dissonant planet and get an echo locator and go where it sends you- your ship should get hijacked along the way and that starts the quest line. I think you might have had to find a harmonic camp too, but not 100% on that

The "land" that you find on water worlds is very rare to find and it's actually just the very peak of an underwater mountain as opposed to an island that you see on other watery planets.

Am loving the new update but unfortunately got a bug on it at moment, when I first load in I get a black screen, end up having to reload 5 or 6 times (doesn’t always work) or flying blind into the anomaly then reloading, can be annoying but i am persistent lol

There is bug on ps5. When I swim down on water world it turns into a normal planet and I fall to the bottom. You run around like normal planet than water will reappear. Than after a while it will disappear and can run and fly around again. Is just a real pain when you want to go to the surface.

Am kinda disappointed with the gas giants. Sure, they're cool and all, but kinda wish they were more "gas", y'know? Like if you had to travel down further to get to the surface and had similar pressure mechanics to the deepwater planets.

The pressure is def higher on gas giants, you can notice it on your jetpack that doesn't fly nearly as high or far as on a normal planet plus, on some of those, you have to constantly watch your life bar pumping material into it cause life goes down so fast.

I’m actually quite disappointed about the gas giants when they said they’re adding gas giants I was expecting.. well a gas giant not giant rocky planets with a thick atmosphere, that’s basically what they added, what would be cooler is that they added a gas giant where you fly through the atmosphere and build cloud cities

You're talking about the quest where you choose how the gas giant is supposed to look? I think this only pertains to the first gas giant you visit cause after that they vary ;) I chose a paradise planet with horror ect. and it had agressive sentinels on it lol

@ I figured that out, chose water and storm because I stumbled on a paradise world with ruins before I started the quest. Still, the map is still horrible, I couldn’t eyeball the new system by color. And if based by the XY, the first system is the only X I got, the others are all Y.

I mean unless you changed your game settings I think you were incorrect about the depth hurting you a lot with the pressure membrane. I do know what you were referring to, but I think your game was just glitching at that time. I never use my submarine and I never had that happen except when I didn’t have the pressure membrane installed.

Also you kept saying you had to keep recharging your hazard protection, but if you notice in the video your gauges are hardly going down and when you are recharging your protections it’s not really needed. Hence why I think your game was were experiencing a glitch before.

I wish we could filter the Galaxy map based on the Hyperdrive we wish to use. Select Indium and you only see the systems that require that drive. Put in the new hyperdrive and only see the systems that require it. would make life so much easier.

@@cueball93 no. it does not work that way. You can have just the basic hyperdrive installed. if you go to the galaxy map it still shows you every system, even the ones you cannot reach without a special drive. It just tells you, you cannot get there without drive 'X' installed.

@ tonight i just found the best way to go to purple systems even for people who havent done the quest....select a star system then it shows all the thin faint lines that are in the nearby area to warp waypoint to (the waypoint thing that you use to go to galactic core) look for any faint lines that go to a tiny dot that doesnt show an actual star. mark that and itll let you warp to the system....those are purples

Unfortunately i have to give up nms until i can get a ps5. My ps4 just cant run it smoothly. Constant crashes, texture bugs, i spent months looking for a white grass planet and when worlds part one came out i finally found one that happened to be a floating island planet as well. It was exactly what I had been looking for except for the water color. After worlds part 2, just walking around my base causes horrible lag. Had my base on a floating island and had a teleporter that led to my "greenhouse" on another island close by and most of the time using the teleporter was a guaranteed crash. Decided to look for another home world and now jumping to other systems is a headache due to several visual glitches.
