Right on Jeff, great vid. It gave me chills down my spine thinking about the old timers digging right there where you are. I went to the Auburn State rec. park a couple of weeks ago, can't believe how much flood gold there is there. I dug one hole for 4-hours and got about 10-40 colors each pan, about 10 pans in all, some good size flakes & lots of small pieces. So many places to dig & crevice, lots of crumbly bedrock. The American River's do live up to their reputation. I'm going to have to take my wife to the Sutter Mills sometime. Thanks for the California Gold Rush history, pretty cool, Serg

Great video jeff!, Thank you for posting I like the way you put the camera on the beautiful American River and the forest and the campground there in coloma. My family's new 10 acre ranch is 6 MI away! By gold hill. As soon as I cut the two acres of blackberries along 700 ft of Indian Creek,, that are lined by hundreds of feet of stack stone the old timers pulled out of the creek, in the historic Cold springs mining district,, I want to invite everybody up there to have a gold rendezvous. All are welcome and finders keepers. I just got a lot more work to do clearing the trails and creekside.

Jan that sounds like a good time !!!!! will you be at Tim's dig in July ?
@janjohannessmith70332 жыл бұрын
Yes I will be there God willing and the Creeks don't rise! Last summer I spent 140 days cutting fire fuel out of the cold springs property with a firefighters gas mask on 8 miles away from the cow door fire was terrifying. I cut out 2 mi of ATV track and dug 2000 ft of fire line including a downhill mountain bike trail to the creek. We've got a Yamaha 700 quad with trailer and we got baby chickens now our first farm animals. I have got to cut the blackberries out of the creek soon or it will be too dangerous to use the blade on the brush cutting saw, commercial weed wacker

I live in hangtown California and own a 35 acre placer gold mine Somewhere on fort Jim road
The early miners of coloma, CA on the American River realized the entire valley was the gold ore deposit in the alluvial gravels.
@janjohannessmith70332 жыл бұрын
Hi jeff, thanks for posting, my family bought 10 acres on Cold springs road six miles away at historic Cold springs mining district near gold hill, for where you are in this video. The historic wagon road from placerville to coloma. I work 2,000 hours last year cutting fire fuel through the cow door fire with a gas mask on. Last week I cleared out 1500 ft of blackberries in historic Indian Creek, cold springs, El Dorado county next week I will go back with a metal detector in Gold pans and a mosquito hat on to see what the old timers left. On my family's private property. If there's anything there I will set up a high banker! Thanks for all the videos and I really learned a lot. I met Todd once and Adam. Looking forward to the July event that Tim is hosting at Union campground. I am praying that there will be no forest fires cuz this is the worst season coming up.
